The red briefcase-style box is used to deliver important documents between the government and the reigning King or Queen.

Opening the box up, the singer gushed over the ‘attention to detail’ as she produced a newspaper which had headlines coinciding with the time frame of the fourth series, which chronicles the years from the late 1970s to the early 1990s.

Mariah also produced a letter, which was stamped with the late Margaret Thatcher’s address of 10 Downing Street. Series four documents Thatcher’s time as Prime Minister with Gillian Anderson portraying the role.

Reading out the document, the singer put on a fake British accent as she declared: ‘In honour of season four, we wish to offer a rare glimpse into the “iron lady” herself… Margaret Thatcher.’

The actress, 52, portrays the former Prime Minister in the new season of the critically lauded series which debuted on Netflix on Sunday.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar about the role for their inaugural Bazaar At Work Week series, Gillian said: ‘I wouldn’t necessarily agree with her leadership style. By the end, I think she became quite dictatorial.

‘She was in power for 11 years, and they say that leaders should never go beyond seven years or they start to go mad. But she had the most extraordinary mind.’

The Crown series one to four is available to watch on Netflix.
