Mariah Carey releases the ‘long lost’ 1995 music video for her song Underneath The Stars

Mariah Carey is treating fans to a long lost music video for her 1995 song Underneath The Stars. 

Despite shooting the video years ago the footage was never released, prompting the 50-year-old singer to track it down and release it as part of her #MC30 collection, which celebrates her 30-year milestone in the industry. 

In the video, a then 25-year-old Mariah is seen in very nineties clothing as she is filmed in a behind-the-scenes style shoot interspersed with sultry singing moments.

Starting the hunt for the lost video in 2012, Carey tweeted: 

‘Little known fact, I actually shot a video 4 ‘Underneath The Stars’ in France & England that never got released & I don’t know where it is!’

The song, which was the sixth single off her 1996 album Daydream, is considered to be a favorite by Mariah. 

After eight years of searching, the All I Want For Christmas singer was able to track it down to she and her fan’s delight. 

Announcing the news on social media a joyful Carey wrote: 

‘The long lost video for Underneath The Stars is finally here! It’s one of my favorite songs from the Daydream album and somehow never got released. I’m so happy to have found it for #MC30.’

As part of her #MC30 collection, Mariah is releasing rare tracks and footage as well as acapella moments, live performances and personal insight.

The video shows Mariah behind-the-scenes on a European tour as she rides around on a tour bus and prepares for a live performance.  

The veteran diva croons for the camera in a lilac mini dress as she sits on a blanket stargazing.   

She puts her famous pipes on display while showcasing an inside look into her life as a young artist.

Waving to fans and greeting the tour production folks, the video ends with Mariah being lowered down to stage in a black halter dress. 

She performs for a packed house, showing the magnitude of her stardom at a young age.  

Within an hour of posting the video had already garnered 69,000 views, with her diehard fans gushing about the memento. 

‘Who else cried before even watching this??????? That’s pure gold,’ wrote one fan.

Mariah first found herself at the top of the charts with the release of her first single Visions of Love in 1990, earning her a Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance a year later.  

With 15 studio albums, and more No. 1 singles than any other solo artist, Carey has solidified her spot as one of the greatest Pop vocalists to have ever lived. 

Recently Mariah continued to reflect on her amazing career as she released her memoir titled The Meaning of Mariah Carey. 

She talks about a troubling childhood filled with domestic violence and racism (she is biracial having a Black-Venezuelan father and a white mother) as well as her many high profile relationships. 

‘When I was 12 years old, my sister drugged me with Valium, offered me a pinky nail full of cocaine, inflicted me with third-degree burns and tried to sell me out to a pimp,’ she writes in an excerpt from the book.
