Mama June reunites with daughter Pumpkin after more than six months during emotional one-on-one

Mama June’s family crisis has been playing out this season on Mama June: From Not to Hot.

Her daughters Pumpkin and Alana have been living in a hotel, hiding out from men their mother owes money to, and she sold their house without telling anyone.

This week’s episode culminated with June reuniting with Pumpkin after more than six months for an emotional one-on-one.

It picked up where last week’s episode ended, Mama June and boyfriend Geno driving away from the courthouse and yelling obscenities at the camera crew.  

After her failed attempt at getting through to her sister, Doe Doe stood in the parking lot, pondering the bizarre interaction: ‘He wanted to hug me. What the f***’s up with that?’ 

She admitted that she was worried for June after months of searching for her, also wondering why her face and arms were covered like she was hiding something: ‘Geno has her, he’s won. June’s lost right now.’ 

Meanwhile, Jennifer and Sugar Bear sat down to open the latest issue of Star Magazine, for which she won a cover shoot by default after a weight loss competition with June.

She recalled being annoyed with the cover interview, which consisted mostly of questions about June. 

That was exacerbated when she saw that her photo was only a small box on the cover, and June’s mugshot was featured in her interview: ‘It’s like I never get rid of the b****. She is upstaging me again.’     

She continued: ‘I did not work my a** off to lose those 200 pounds and go through all those surgeries, only to be a blip on the radar.’  

Alana recorded a video message for Mama June from the hotel: ‘I just hope someday you realize what you’re doing and what you’re missing out on. Because you’re missing out on Ella’s life, you’re missing out on my life.’ 

Her sister Pumpkin then walked in with husband Josh and their two-year-old daughter Ella, catching Alana recording and making sure she wasn’t going live again. 

When asked if she finished her homework, Alana said yes but they caught her in a lie, and Pumpkin took her phone away before she stormed off.

Looking through the phone, Pumpkin found the videos and suddenly understood why Alana was so angry, which made her even more upset with Mama June.

She decided to call her mom to set up a long overdue one-on-one, but it went to voicemail, and she invited her to have a sit-down with just the two of them.

Pumpkin said she wants her to get better but didn’t know if she could stand seeing her again.

She almost immediately got a text back, which read: ‘I can’t talk right now, but yes, I want to see you.’

June also assured her that she paid off the men who were after her and that she didn’t need to worry anymore.

Still scared of being found, Pumpkin decided she wanted to take Josh up on his offer to move them away to safety. 

Sugar Bear took Jennifer out to make her feel better about the cover, and he revealed a surprise for her.

He told her that she was right and he wanted to fight for custody of Alana, because he didn’t want her living in a hotel. 

Jennifer revealed that she already had the papers drawn up, and they arranged a meeting with Pumpkin to serve her.

When they arrived, Sugar Bear and Jennifer asked Alana to take Ella inside and give them some time to speak with Pumpkin and Josh. 

Sugar Bear told them he wanted to spend more time with his daughter, before Jennifer slapped the papers down on the paper. 

Pumpkin ripped them up and threw them in Jennifer’s face, as she and Josh stormed off back into the hotel.

She admitted that she was scared that Sugar Bear could succeed in getting custody, since he’s Alana’s real father, and they decided not to tell Alana about the custody battle or her upcoming face-to-face with Mama June.

Pumpkin and Josh started packing up the apartment as they decided to move immediately for their safety.

After he picked up Alana from school, they returned to the apartment to say a bittersweet goodbye before taking off to their new place, where they asked the crew not to film, in order to keep their location secret.

Pumpkin spoke to their executive producer Moriah after her confessional, as they arranged the sit-down with Mama June. 

She asked if they could do it at the production office, so they could give a photo of Geno to security to keep an eye out for him.

Pumpkin also asked for Dr. Ish to be on hand, just in case Mama June showed up high, in which case she wouldn’t want to talk to her.

Doe Doe drove her to the meeting as two producers arrived to pick up June, who appeared to be running late.   

When she finally did arrive, she put on a chummy display with her old pals, who asked where she’s been working, to which she responded: ‘I can’t tell you all that.’ 

June then confirmed that she and Geno had been delivering luggage for airlines, which allowed them to travel.

When asked if she was ready for the meeting with her daughter, she responded: ‘Are y’all ready for me? That’s the thing.’  

The producers then asked if she was nervous, and she said she didn’t want to talk about it because she would get too emotional. 

June then told them that she was sober and doing well, but if the meeting had happened a few months before, she would have secretly gotten ‘super high.’

While waiting for her mom, Pumpkin told Dr. Ish that she wanted to get June admitted to rehab.

Moriah and Dr. Ish stepped out to greet Mama June and make sure she wasn’t high, as Pumpkin watched from the window. 

June said she’s been doing better but has been anxious, and she’s taken Xanax from time to time, as well as medication for migraines, but it had ‘been a couple months’ since she used.     

The doctor said she may have still had some drugs in her system, but she didn’t appear to be high. 

After excitedly greeting the crew, Mama June stepped into the office to meet with Pumpkin, where she immediately broke down into tears. 

The promo for next week’s episode sees them giving June a drug test, to which Dr. Ish says there’s ‘good news and bad news,’ and she prepares to reveal something she’s been hiding.
