Magda Szubanski plays Kath & Kim’s Sharon Strzelecki for COVID-19 dance with healthcare workers

‘Noice, strong, courageous’: Magda Szubanski gets in character as Kath & Kim’s Sharon Strzelecki for a COVID-19 dance video with healthcare workers

Australia’s healthcare workers are under an immense amount of pressure during the COVID-19 pandemic.

And on Monday, Magda Szubanski showed her appreciation for frontline workers with a coronavirus dance video that featured staff from several Australian hospitals.

The 59-year-old actress got into character as Sharon Strzelecki from Kath & Kim and sang ‘COVID Bug’, a parody of Soft Cell’s Tainted Love with lyrics that reflect the current health crisis.

‘This COVID bug you’ve given, you took all my PP (personal protection) equipment, you even took my mask and that’s not all,’ Sharon sang at one point.

The split screen video featured Sharon busting out some dance moves in her signature netball uniform.

Meanwhile, workers from Ambulance Victoria, Footscray Hospital and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital all danced along to the ’80s tune.

‘Noice, strong, courageous. A special Sharon shout out to all our healthcare workers, on the frontline and behind the scenes,’ Magda captioned the post.

‘Health workers please send us vids of you dancing to this and we will update and add them in. Noice.’

Magda’s multiple mentions of ‘noice’ is a reference Kath & Kim fans will instantly recognise from the show.

Last year, Kim Kardashian famously said ‘noice’ in an Uber Eats commercial alongside Magda in-character as Sharon.
