‘Don’t do it!’ Lucy Fallon’s decision to quit Coronation Street did not go down well with her mother

‘As a mum she probably worries that I won’t work again!’

‘I think it was mainly because Corrie was my first job and I’ve not done anything else.’

Lucy gushed about the stalwart soap, which she has been a part of for half a decade.

‘I’ve had loads of amazing storylines and [leaving] was now or never; I didn’t want to get to a point where I looked back and wished I’d tried other things.

‘I’m going to miss everyone. It’s like a family.’

Of her Corrie swan song, she went on: ‘I am going to miss everyone. I love the Platts and this [storyline] with Daniel.’

Of the plot, she teased: ‘Daniel isn’t over Sinead and she wanted to see what happens but she has an opportunity.

‘Daniel kind of found that Bethany fills that void that Sinead left. He’s helped with her writing course and helped her get the internship and she’s been a shoulder for him too.

‘It’s critical because we don’t know if Bethany’s going to say yes and whether she’ll leave alone or with Daniel.’

Bethany went on to add of her last day on the soap, and her future beyond it: ‘It was nice having everyone there on my last day.

‘I’m auditioning at the moment. The beauty is because I’ve only done Corrie I’m open to everything.’

Lucy recently admitted she was ‘too scared’ to leave her dressing room for the first six months of her Coronation Street career.

She said: ‘I had no idea what direction life was going to take me in. I didn’t get into the drama schools I’d applied for.

‘I auditioned for ‘Corrie’, but somebody else was offered the part of Bethany first and then I ended up getting it. I was 19 and it took me six months to come out of my dressing room – I was too scared to speak to anyone.

‘Never in a million years back then did I think I’d end up calling Gail Platt a friend!’
