Love Island’s Paige Turley slaps down ex Lewis Capaldi over demand for a cut of her £25,000 prize

Love Island winner Paige Turley has put down ex-boyfriend Lewis Capaldi’s claims to some of her prize money – as she already knows what she’s spending it on.

After the blonde bombshell entered the villa in January, her chart-topping ex, 23, joked that he deserved a shared of any prize money because his fame helped her earn a place on the ITV2 show.

But Paige, 22, who on Sunday won the series’ £50,000 cash prize with besotted  boyfriend Finn Tapp, has said he won’t be seeing a penny.

It’s ours! Love Island winner Paige Turley has put down ex-boyfriend Lewis Capaldi’s claims to some of her prize money – as she already knows what she’s spending it on

‘That’s just Lewis, it comes as no surprise he said that. But I can’t give him any money because once I pay off my debts there’ll be nothing left,’ she said in an interview with the Sun.

Finn, 20, added that he wouldn’t be intimidated by Lewis if they happened to bump into each other.

The Oxford City footballer says he has his own music ambition and aims to knock the singer ‘off his perch’.

He joked: ‘I’ve got a shower-singing album coming out and hopefully he’ll feature on a couple of tracks with me. I want to collaborate with him and win Best Newcomer at the Brits next year.

‘I’ve never been in a situation where my girlfriend’s had such a high-profile ex. I wouldn’t say it was intimidating, I love his music and I’m a fan. I’m excited to meet him.’

While Paige has been finding love in the South African villa, ex Lewis has stormed the BRIT Awards, coming away with gongs for Best New Artist and Song of the Year.

And in his acceptance speech the singer left fans in hysterics as he revealed to the audience the true inspiration behind his song Someone You Love was not Paige but instead his late Grandmother.

While poking fun at his ex, the self professed ‘Scottish Beyonce’ picked up his award, saying: ‘Thanks very much for this.

‘Contrary to popular belief, a lot of people think this song is about my ex girlfriend who you can now see every night on Love Island.

‘But it is actually about my grandmother who has sadly passed away a few years ago’

He then cheekily added: ‘And I hope to god ITV don’t contact her to go on a reality TV show.’

The star ended his bizarre acceptance speech saying: ‘And thanks for my grandmother for dying!’

The news will be an awkward revelation for Paige after she referenced the song during her VT for Love Island.

She confidently declared before entering the villa in January: ‘I’m Paige, I’m 22 and a singer from West Lothian. I’d describe myself as loud and flamboyant.

Not on the same Paige: Talking to V Music Australia, Lewis revealed: 'The song is not about a lady who I was in a romantic relationship with, it's about my grandmother, who is dead. F**k.'

‘One of my ex boyfriends is Lewis Capaldi. According to the papers his song Someone You Loved was about me.

‘Lewis, I’m so sorry I must have been a b***h to you.’

The pair dated for over a year after meeting in college, but things are said to have ended on a sour note.

Her confession comes after it was revealed she had reportedly cheated on the funny Scotsman with his close friend Garry Greig.

The reality star reportedly began dating Garry, 26, while she and Lewis, 23, were still together, despite her insistence that they dated years earlier, according to The Sun.

It comes after Paige told MailOnline that she and Lewis are still close pals, and she hopes he might vote for her during her time in the villa.

The source said: ‘Paige pretends to be a nice girl but within months of dating Lewis, she was cheating with Garry, one of his best friends.

‘Lewis adored Paige and, at that time, he would have done anything for her. But she obviously didn’t feel the same or she wouldn’t have betrayed him.

Not a recent love: Paige denied being with former The X Factor contestant Garry, 26, more recently than her relationship with Lewis ended, as she claimed they were an item 'years ago'

‘Eventually, she dumped Lewis and began officially dating Garry instead, leaving Lewis absolutely devastated. He really thought they had a future.’

Representatives for Lewis, Garry and Love Island were contacted by MailOnline for comment at the time.

It comes after Paige insisted that she and Lewis dated years before she coupled up with Garry.

She told MailOnline: ‘That was actually a few years ago, when I was quite young.

‘Recently I’ve been on dates, but it hasn’t been anything serious. Gary was a few years ago, before Lewis.’

Paige previously won exposure as a fresh-faced 14-year-old Britain’s Got Talent contestant in 2012.
