Love Island: Grant Crapp reveals full damage from bushfire at Malua Bay home

Love Island’s Grant Crapp reveals the extent of the damage to his $770,000 Malua Bay home after it was devastated by bushfires

Grant Crapp’s $770,000 home in Malua Bay, on the NSW South Coast, was devastated by a bushfire in early January.

The Love Island Australia winner, 24, has since spent the past five months rebuilding the property he and his girlfriend, Lucy Cartwright, had bought just eight months before the blaze.

In a series of Instagram posts on Wednesday, he revealed the full extent of the damage caused by the fire, sharing bleak pictures from the immediate aftermath.

‘Who is ready for my total rebuild reveal? I’m 80 per cent done since the fires destroyed my place,’ Grant wrote, alongside a gallery of photos taken in January.

In the images, all of Grant and Lucy’s possessions had been reduced to ash.

He drew attention to a skylight above his kitchen, which looked to have once had a plastic cover over it, and explained that was how the fire had entered the property.

He previously said they had ‘lost everything’ in the fire.

The rural property backs onto 100 acres of bushland. It comprises two dwellings as well as sheds and paddocks for the couple’s animals.

The main house, where Grant and Lucy lived, has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is also a separate two-bedroom cabin for guests.

In January, Grant revealed how their animals had survived the blaze. He shared a picture of Lucy tending to a horse with facial burns, and a blackened alpaca.

Grant and Lucy also own a three-bedroom cabin in nearby Batemans Bay, which they bought for $380,000 in April 2019. This managed to survive the bushfires.

The reality star won the first season of Love Island Australia with Tayla Damir in 2018.

He faced criticism after returning to Australia once the show wrapped in Spain, as it was revealed he was already seeing girlfriend Lucy before filming overseas.
