Plans: Nadia Sawalha has revealed that she and Mark Adderley are planning on a ‘totally sober’ wedding after the coronavirus pandemic ruined plans for a big wedding in Greece

Nadia and Mark, who celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, had planned to renew their vows at a beachfront villa in Greece, followed by a big party attended by all their loved ones.

However, the coronavius has put the brakes on their dreams, leaving Nadia to rethink her ideas for their day.

She told The Mirror: ‘What we thought we might be able to do is go to Greece and do it in a nice villa on the beach. But I think what we’re going to do now is do it in one of our favourite places on earth and that is Cornwall.’

With their plans now changed to a more low-key occasion, Nadia also shared that she also plans to ditch the booze as her husband doesn’t drink.

She added: ‘My husband has been 16 years sober, which at weddings can be very, very tough sometimes. So what I want to do is, I want to have a tee-total wedding. I don’t want to drink anything.

‘Mark never minds me drinking, he’s always happy for me to have a drink. But I think it would be really nice if I could have a totally sober day – no drink, with just family, although I don’t know what my family will say.’

The star also told of her intentions to involve her Loose Women pals, seeing as they won’t be able to join her on her special day.

Nadia said that she plans to ‘lay on a big do’ for the girls for when lockdown is over.

Earlier this year, the couple spoke about the proposal in a podcast according to OK! and Nadia said she had asked Mark to remarry her shortly before Valentine’s Day.

The actress and Mark were taking part in a podcast which was uploaded on their YouTube channel, and Nadia told Mark why she loves him so much.

Nadia said she loves how Mark is an incredible father to their two daughters and said he had introduced her to ‘so many new passions.’

At the end of the podcast, she had said: ‘I would really like to ask you if you would like to renew your vows with me.’

Mark replied: ‘Aw, you’re a funny one aren’t you,’ before hugging her.

She told Mark that he hadn’t actually said yes, to which he joked: ‘I know, I will have to think about it… I would love to, oh my god, of course I would love to.’

At the time, the couple discussed what sort of second wedding they would have.

Nadia said: ‘I thought, renewing the vows is going to be a really lovely thing to do.

‘I don’t know if we have ever spoken about our wedding but it was fraught for a number of reasons. I mean we had only known each other six months, and I was pregnant and there was a lot going on for us.

‘We actually were really busy and we handed over completely to my mum and my sister Dina, who were amazing and gave us the most beautiful wedding, which was very traditional in a lot of ways.

‘We have always talked about it and how it would be amazing to do it again and get nice photos.

‘I didn’t like the photos because I was pregnant and all of that stuff. So I thought we could just do something really nice for us, and just decide everything together.’
