Poh Ling Yeow dazzled the judges on Monday night’s episode of MasterChef Australia: Back To Win with her colourful seared beef dish.

But not everyone was impressed, with fans of the hit show taking to social media to declare they wouldn’t have eaten it.

One even went so far as to compare the meaty dish, covered in an unusual looking bright pink sauce to ‘cat vomit’.

The remaining contestants were put to the test on Monday when they were presented with a mystery box featuring eight ingredients including prickly pear, rib eye beef, wattle seeds and caulilini- a hybrid mix of broccoli and cauliflower.

In a departure from regular mystery box challenges, which saw contestants having to use only one ingredient, judge Melissa Leong shocked them with a twist.

‘Today you have to use all the ingredients across two dishes- one savoury, one sweet,’ she announced.

High praise! While judge compared the colour of the sauce to play-doh, he told Poh he was 'surprised' by the sweet and savoury flavour and he 'really dug it'

The unusual-looking beef dish drew high praise with judge Jock Zonfrillo saying he was ‘surprised’ but he really enjoyed the flavour.

‘Great flavour on the caulilini, great flavour on the beef. The sauce is a surprise… it looks like play-doh,’ he said.
