Lisa Armstrong pays tribute to her father with touching post one year after his death

Lisa Armstrong has paid tribute to her late father one year after his death.

The make-up artist, 43, shared a picture of her ‘hero’ father Derek alongside a touching passage about how she missed him everyday.

It was reported in May last year that Lisa’s father had passed away aged 71 following a battle with cancer, amidst her divorce battle with ex-husband Ant McPartlin.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Lisa wrote: ‘I can’t believe one year has passed, it still seems so unreal… Not a day goes by that I don’t miss you…

‘Your smile, your laugh, encouragement & most of all your love. Will always be Daddy’s girl… My heart broke this day last year…. RIP… MY DAD MY HERO. ‘

The Strictly Come Dancing make-up artist was reportedly at Derek’s bedside at her family home, in Oxford with her mum Linda, according to The Sun. 

Lisa was said to have kept her dad’s illness a secret for a year.

Derek was said to have been given the cancer diagnosis a year ago and his health has deteriorated in recent months. 

In recent weeks, Lisa’s dad was discharged from hospital to die at home peacefully, the newspaper reported. 

A source told the paper at the time: ‘A lot of people think Lisa is strong, and she is — but she’s had so much to cope with since she and Ant split up.

‘There’s been one thing after another and at times she’s felt on her knees. But she’s kept it together and ploughed on.’

Lisa and Ant have since settled their divorce and she is believed to have received a £31million settlement, as well as joint custody of their Labrador Hurley.
