Leslie Jordan cast in the new Call Me Kat starring Mayim Biyalik about a woman who starts a cat cafe

Leslie Jordan of Will & Grace has been cast opposite Mayim Biyalik in new series Call Me Kat about a woman who starts a cat cafe

It seems that this period of quarantining and isolating at home has been working out for at least one charming Tennesseean actor: Leslie Jordan.

The 64-year-old thespian, who’s famous for the madcap Beverley on Will & Grace, added to his popular Instagram feed on Thursday to announce some ‘big news’: he’s set join to the cast of Call Me Kat, a new straight-to-series order at Fox starring Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Biyalik.

Jordan has been dominating Instagram lately from his hometown of Chattanooga since going into self-isolation, often posting hilarious confessionals – mostly with colorful, NSFW language – about how bored he is at home.

But on Thursday, he posted a clip that started on the Google page for Call Me Kat, which featured the visages of the show’s cast, including Blossom’s Biyalik, Disney star Kyla Pratt, Jordan’s American Horror Story costar Cheyenne Jackson, and Swoosie Kurtz from Sisters and Pushing Daisies.

‘I hope I’m holding the camera steady so you can see, I’m shaking,’ the actor said in his unmistakable accent, to the delight of his 1 million+ followers.

‘I have been added to the cast of Call Me Kat. Big new project over at Fox TV’, Leslie continued.

‘Not a pilot, baby – straight to series order!’

He went on to sing the praises of the cast and crew, which also include BBT’s Jim Parsons who is coming on board as an executive producer along with Biyalik.

According to the show’s IMDb page, Call Me Kat will follow ‘a 39-year-old woman who decides to use the money her parents had been saving for her wedding to buy a cat-themed cafe.’

Jordan clearly seemed more than excited about his casting in the series, referring to Mayim and Swoosie as the ‘mother-daughter duo’ and calling Cheyenne ‘a heartthrob.’

In fact, Leslie had been sitting on the news of landing the role on the show for weeks – at the beginning of March, he posted two confessional selfie videos with captions ‘About to bust’ and ‘Still sitting on news,’ in which he mentioned that he had some good news but was not yet allowed to mention anything.

In one of those clips, the Emmy-winner shared amusing anecdotes about how he has been a rather poor keeper of similar secrets in the past, like when he mistakenly let slip that Will & Grace was returning after a 12-year hiatus, or when he unwittingly shared that he would be appearing in American Horror Story with Lady Gaga (who had yet to be announced) while he was at Boston Pride.

And while a premiere date for Call Me Kat has yet to be set – especially since the coronavirus pandemic has brought productions across the entirety of the film and television industry to a standstill – Leslie can be seen a lot sooner back on Will & Grace next week, as a guest star for their special tribute to I Love Lucy.
