Leonardo DiCaprio presents Jamie Foxx the American Black Film Festival Excellence in the Arts Award

Leonardo DiCaprio reunited with his Django Unchained co-star Jamie Foxx to present him with a prestigious award on Sunday night.

DiCaprio, 45, presented Foxx, 52, with the American Black Film Festival’s Excellence in the Arts Award on Sunday night.

His new film Just Mercy also walked away with Movie Of the Year honors, beating out Black and Blue, Dolemite Is My Name, Harriet, Queen & Slim, The Last Black Man in San Francisco and Us.

DiCaprio rocked a black on black suit with no tie and his black dress shirt’s top two buttons unbuttoned as he took the stage.

Foxx opted for a classic black tuxedo with a bowtie as he accepted the award at the ceremony, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday night.

Foxx also brought the house down with a rousing speech as he accepted his award.

Foxx stated that the entertainment industry will, ‘always need black people’ because they will, ‘tell you what the f**k it really is,’ he said to applause.

‘You can’t slip on your talent, which is why it means so much to get this award,’ Foxx added. ‘People always talk about the Oscar, we got to stop thinking about the Oscar and celebrate our own thing, our own blackness.’

Foxx did acknowledge that he has an Oscar, which he won for his performance as Ray Charles in Ray, which caused the crowd to laugh, adding, ‘I was nominated twice in the same year, but still stop thinking about it!’

He then started bringing out some of his characters from films like Any Given Sunday, Ali and more, adding, ‘I’m giving you characters, and that’s always what I’ve wanted to do.’

Other honorees at the American Black Film Festival Awards on Sunday night included Harriet star Cynthia Erivo with the Rising Star Award.

Louis Gossett Jr was also awarded the Hollywood Legacy Award, while Lena Waithe took home the Industry Resistance Award.

Foxx will next lend his voice to Pixar’s new animated film Soul, which is slated to hit theaters on June 19.

He also stars in and makes his writing and directing feature debut with All-Star Weekend, which doesn’t have a release date yet.

DiCaprio is coming off the critically-acclaimed Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and he’s attached to star in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon next.
