Leah Remini says that her daughter has taught her about multiple issues during an interview

Leah Remini, 50, reveals her mini me daughter Sofia, 16, has ‘inspired’ her to pay attention to racial inequality and climate change: ‘It makes me so proud’

Leah Remini got candid about her relationship with her daughter during her time on The Drew Barrymore Show on Friday. 

The 50-year-old appeared on the CBS program to discuss the things that she has learned from her 16-year-old mini-me child Sofia.

The Kevin Can Wait actress made a point of telling the show’s host that her daughter ‘inspired’ her to pay attention to issues such as racial inequality and climate change.

Remini told Barrymore, ‘[Sofia] sends me things that I should be posting on social media about systemic racism, social injustice, constantly saying, “Mom, you need to be doing this. I need less plastics in this house.”‘

The actress then expressed that she was elated with the fact that her daughter had come to recognize the importance of paying attention to social issues.  

‘It makes me so proud to to know that she’s somebody who cares about what’s happening in the world,’ Remini said.

‘I wasn’t thinking about these things when I was her age,’ she added.

The activist also gave some more info on her daughter’s hobbies and noted that she had taken an interest in cosmetics. 

The actress said that ‘She’s a big fan of makeup, she buys tons of makeup, she hoards makeup, she doesn’t necessarily wear a lot of makeup.’

The two then discussed parenting skills, and Remini expressed that anyone taking care of a child should be entitled to public recognition. 

‘Literally people doing this, the caretakers, moms, dads they deserve an award,’ she remarked.

The Old School actress then recounted an anecdote where she was overwhelmed by an assignment that her daughter had asked for help with. 

Remini recounted, ‘I tried to do homework with her one time, I couldn’t even understand the question. I said, “I don’t even understand what they are asking you to do. What do they want you to do? Google it.”‘

She also joked that her daughter ‘finds nothing about me interesting.’ 

Sofia is the actress’ only daughter with her husband Angelo Pagan, whom she married in 1996.
