Lana Del Rey puts on a leggy display in denim short shorts as she shops for 4th of July decorations

Lana Del Rey has been hard at work on the second of two books of poetry, which will be accompanied with spoken word LPs.

But the six-time Grammy nominee is ready to spend the holiday weekend with friends after finishing her work.

She put on a leggy display Friday in some denim short shorts as she went shopping for Fourth of July decorations with younger sister Joanna in Los Angeles.

The 35-year-old paired the shorts with a white fleece, trimmed in navy blue with ‘happy camper’ embroidered over the chest.

She finished the ensemble with a purple ‘baseball mom’ cap, a black face mask and a pair of white sneakers. 

Lana and her sister carried some large black shopping bags full of decorations, as well as a plastic flamingo. 

She recently celebrated finishing her book Behind the Iron Gates – Insights from an Institution after jetting off for some creative time. 

The National Anthem star snuggled with some kittens Sunday in a black-and-white photo on Instagram, writing: ‘Do you know how hard it was to finish the book with these two little terrors!’ 

Lana took to Instagram the day before, rocking a retro chic look in a white short-sleeved turtleneck, as she prepared to board a private jet while holding an equally retro typewriter, writing: ‘La who am I to love u.’ 

Last month on Instagram, she debuted the book’s first piece of poetry Patent Leather Do-Over, a spoken word poem in tribute to Sylvia Plath and her work The Bell Jar, featuring music by Jack Antonoff. 

Behind the Iron Gates is set to release in March of 2021 through Simon & Schuster, a followup to her debut book.

The first book Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass is expected to come out sometime in 2020.

Lana said last year at a concert that the books would be available at mom and pop bookstores in California for only a dollar ‘because my thoughts are priceless.’
