Dax Shepard has been a welcome part of Kristen Bell’s family, even before their marriage in 2013.
But Bell, during her appearance on The Ellen Show on Monday, recalled a time that Shepard accidentally turned a conversation between himself and her mother into a flirtatious one.
‘The minute you involve an EGGPLANT EMOJI, the whole thing changes,’ emphasized Kristen to the talk show audience.

Welcome back! Kristen, who was just on Ellen’s show in December, returned to discuss her latest ventures with the 62-year-old host
It all started when Bell’s mother Lorelei decided to come to Los Angeles for a family visit.
‘[My mom] sent [Dax] a text “be there by 11” and then he sends something else that says, “can’t wait to see you tonight.”
But, what was meant as a casual reply, quickly evolved into something else entirely.
‘[Dax] meant to respond [a series of SMILEY FACE emojis], but instead he replied [with a series of EGGLANT emojis],’ explained Bell.
According to Kristen, when Dax realized the magnitude of his emoji error, he let out a dramatic gasp, turned to her, and dramatically uttered: ‘Oh no! I made a huge mistake!’

Kristen continued: ‘And I was like, “What?” and he shows me the phone…and, by the way, the minute you involve an eggplant emoji the WHOLE story changes.’
‘Because now it reads,’ began Kristen, who immediately switched to a sensual narration, ‘I’ll be there at 11. Can’t wait to see you tonight.’
The audience, as well as the 62-year-old talk show host, roared with laughter.
‘Which is NOT how the original text read, but, thankfully [her mother] doesn’t know what an eggplant emoji is,’ concluded Bell as she wiped imaginary beads of sweat from her forehead.

Bell looked stunning in a black off-the-shoulder maxi dress for the talk show’s Monday shoot.
Her signature blonde, shoulder length hair rested in a neat middle part that framed that actress’ heart-shaped face.
She rounded out her appearance attire with a pair of statement making snakeskin boots that stood out against her monochromatic dress.
Even DeGeneres remarked on the actress’ awe-inspiring glam.
‘You are so dolled up, where are you going after this,’ said Degeneres playfully.
‘No, I’m just going to a rock climbing gym with my kids,’ joked the actress behind gritted teeth.

Later in the show, the Veronica Mars starlet gave the audience some insight on her day-to-day as a mother to her daughter Delta, 5, and son Lincoln, 6.
The Good Place alum narrowed in on one recent incident that occurred involving Delta, playtime with her stuffed animals in the bath, and an unattended tub of Vaseline.
‘She likes to take all of her stuffed animals and play with them in the tub…and it’s like, in my head, it’s a cool sensory thing and I’m gonna let her do it. But she role plays with them and so she wants me to leave the room.
‘And now that she’s five, I’m like, “Hey! I can start to make dinner!”‘
Adopt don’t stop! Bell spoke about her love of rescuing senior dogs

‘So, she’s in there and I go to get her out and I pull her out and I go, “Oh, I don’t think you got the conditioner out of your hair. And she says, “No, I did. I rinsed it.”‘
‘And then, 10 minutes later, I put her pajamas on and I’m like, “What did you use?” and she was like, “THE VASELINE!”‘
Ellen, trying to understand how Delta even thought to use the very not intended for hair product, asked: ‘And why did she…how was that in her reach?’
To which Bell hilariously replied: ‘Because her mother left her alone in the bathroom.’
Ellen then asked Bell, who is an avid dog rescuer, about her unique one-eyed pup Barbara.
A new, but loved edition: ‘We got her last year and, you know, she is just a hot mess. Dax calls her “the old dirty golf rag” because that’s what she looks like,’ said Kristen during Monday’s show

‘She looks like she has Vaseline in her hair right now,’ quipped Ellen as she gestured to a picture of the pooch on the screen behind her.
Kristen explained that Barbara looked wet because prior to the photo being taken she had fallen into the family’s pool.
‘She is blind in [one] eye and [the other eye] only has 20% sight, but none of it involves the edge of the pool.’
‘You’re not looking good as a mom OR a pet owner right now,’ joked the talk show host, as the audience erupted in laughter.
One year: The actress is also celebrating the one year anniversary of her baby product line Hello Bello; Bell was spotted in NYC on February 21
To close out the interview, Bell and Ellen celebrated the one-year anniversary of Bell’s baby product line Hello Bello, which makes ‘premium, plant-based, affordable’ goods.
‘When we started [this line], we were very clear and honest with the people we collaborated with and we were like, “We don’t need another paycheck. Just to be blunt. We want to make a for-profit company that has really good things in the world and has accessibility and doesn’t make parents choose between their baby or their budget.’
To thank the brand’s supporters, Bell and her company have donated over a million diapers, as well as supplied discounts to first responders and those in the military.
