Kelly Rowland SNAPS over ‘degrading’ language used by contestants

‘That irritates me to no end!’ Kelly Rowland SNAPS at sexist behaviour and ‘degrading’ language used by contestants as she loses another singer to Boy George

Kelly Rowland snapped on Monday’s episode of The Voice Australia over ‘degrading’ comments made towards her on the show by some of the aspiring singers.

The former Destiny’s Child star, 39, was clearly fed up with what she believed was sexist behaviour on set by contestants wanting to become stars.

‘It is the most frustrating s**t… It’s so degrading. It really pi**es me off,’ Kelly vented to female co-star Delta Goodrem.

Kelly and Boy George both turned their chairs for music teacher Ricky Muscat, and had detailed why they believed they would make the best coach for him.

However, Kelly was not impressed by Ricky’s delivery when it came to revealing which team he’d like to join.

‘George, I love you. Kelly, you’re so beautiful. The coach that I am choosing is George,’ the 36-year-old said.

Ricky was then shown hugging only the male judges as he left the stage, leaving Kelly visibly disheartened and perplexed.

Delta saw that Kelly looked upset and came over to her chair to talk.

‘It is the most frustrating s**t. You know what’s so frustrating? To be called beautiful… it’s so degrading. It really pi**es me off. Like “oh, you’re so cute”, or “you’re so pretty”. I’ve been here [the music industry] for 20-something years.’

It appears Kelly was not only referencing Ricky, but also a number of other stars who have complimented her looks over her talent or successful career.

‘I don’t care who he [Ricky] would have chosen, it’s just the fact that he chose George and goes “you, you’re a woman, you’re pretty”, that makes me upset. Oh, that irritates me to no end!’

Boy George then joked: ‘I think Kelly’s upset because he called her pretty. I love it when people call me pretty.’

Fans may think Ricky looks familiar, and they would be correct.
