The chat show icon shared: ‘It really gives me hope – her generation really supports each other, the way she and her friends have each other’s backs.’

Kelly continued: ‘For all the talk about women helping other women, I see it in her generation in a way I never have before.’

She confessed: ‘I think I had definitive ideas about raising girls versus raising boys, even though I don’t really believe in gender stereotyping.’

However on becoming a mother she discovered: ‘My sons are just as sensitive as my daughter, and my daughter is as strong as my sons.’

Mark has experienced personal growth as well with regards to fatherhood, developing a trusting relationship with Lola.

‘As overprotective as I thought I would be when she was born and I was holding her in my arms, I’ve mellowed a bit. Because I’m really aware of what a good head on her shoulders she has,’ revealed the Riverdale dreamboat.

The sons are a source of wisdom as well as ‘You’ll have conversations with Joaquin where you realize you’ve just learned something new about the way he thinks.’

Parents and children alike seemed to be united in the belief that there are huge benefits to being a younger sibling.

‘As you get older and you learn more, that youngest kid hopefully benefits from a little bit more wisdom … and hopefully fewer nerves,’ said Kelly.

‘Younger siblings get to do whatever they want right out of the gate,’ said their firstborn son MIchael while Joaquin acknowledged that ‘my parents have softened up a lot now that I’m in high school.’

Kelly and Mark’s protective instinct was so influential in their parenting that they did not allow Lola an Instagram account until she was 18.

‘She had really wanted a public account, but we made her wait until she was an adult. Apparently she turned 18 and immediately went public,’ dished Kelly.

Lola absorbed a more zen attitude from her father, which was ‘to take everything day -by day – not to dwell on the past but to focus on the future.’

Their big magazine cover comes on the heels of news that Kelly and Mark are planning to produce an upcoming program called Mexican Gothic.

The show is based on a novel by Silvia Moreno-Garcia that was published at the end of this June and shot onto the New York Times bestseller list.

”We feel like we hit the literary jackpot, and cannot wait to bring author Silvia’s gorgeous writing to life, together with Hulu,’ Kelly said, according to Deadline.

”She got very offended when I left. She thought I was leaving because of her. I was leaving because I was getting older and that wasn’t right for me anymore,’ he said.

Kelly, who now hosts Live! with Ryan Seacrest, became visibly emotional on air while discussing her reaction to the ‘horrible news’ that Regis had died.

‘As people get older, you always know that certain things are inevitable and passing away is one of those things, but Regis is one of the people that we all believed, I think, would somehow figure out a way around the inevitable,’ she shared.
