Katy Perry has chosen pal Jennifer Aniston to be her impending daughter’s Godmother

Katy Perry is expected to give birth in the coming weeks to her first child, a daughter, with fiance Orlando Bloom.

And it has been revealed that the 35-year-old pop star and the 43-year-old actor have chosen none other than Jennifer Aniston to be their impending daughter’s Godmother.

‘[Jennifer] is pretty chuffed about it as well and cried when they asked her,’ said a source close to the trio in an interview with The Sun published Saturday.  

The source claimed that Katy and Orlando placed the 51-year-old actress at the top of their list of potential godparents and ‘wept when they asked her’ to take on the role. 

Aniston has allegedly provided Katy with tons of emotional during her pregnancy and has proven her dedication to the growing family.

‘Katy and Jen are very close. During lockdown they went for socially distanced walks, and spent lots of time catching up,’ explained the insider. 

And Aniston has plenty of experience in the Godmother department, being that she is already Godmother to her Friends co-star Courteney Cox’s 16-year-old daughter Coco.

Katy and Jennifer are not only connected by their nearly decade long friendship, but their romantic lives have also collided once over the years. 

Back in 2008, Aniston briefly dated Perry’s ex boyfriend John Mayer, whom she was in an on-and-off relationship from 2012 until 2015.

Perry went on to meet her fiance Orlando Bloom at a Golden Globes after-party in January of 2016 and they began dating shortly after.

The pair ended their relationship in 2017, but were back together by April of the following year.

Orlando proposed to Katy on Valentine’s Day in 2019, following an American Idol taping in Los Angeles.  

Perry is currently anticipating the August release of her fifth studio album Smile.

And while promoting the highly anticipated album this week, the Teenage Dream songstress provided fans with some insight into her pregnancy. 

‘I am waddling like a duck! I’m breathing heavily, I’m a full-on mouth-breather,’ admitted Katy, who made a string of UK radio call ins on Friday morning.

‘It’s loud and obnoxious. I eat so much flavored ice, it’s like put it in my mouth right now.’ 

The Grammy nominated singer revealed her pregnancy to the world in early March via the music video for her power ballad Never Worn White, where she exposed her burgeoning bump for the first time. 

Katy and Orlando learned they were expecting a daughter, during a gender reveal party held at their home in April.

Though this is Perry’s first child, Bloom is already father to nine-year-old son Flynn, whom he shares with his model ex wife Miranda Kerr, 37.
