Kate Lawler shares snap of her bump and reveals she is having to isolate

Kate Lawler shared an update on her pregnancy as she revealed she is being forced to isolate after coming into contact with someone who was Covid positive.

The Big Brother star, 40, stripped down to her underwear as she shared a snap of her burgeoning baby bump less than six weeks before she is due to give birth.

Revealing her anxieties ahead of the birth, Kate told her followers she is currently having to self-isolate with her her fiancé Martin, also known as Boj.

Reflecting on her pregnancy in the lengthy post, Kate wrote: ‘I know I’m 8 months pregnant but I still can’t believe we’re doing this! Every time I look in the mirror I’m in love with my bump, but I’m still not over the fact it’s actually happening and in five and a half weeks, our little human will be here.⁣’

Kate went on to discuss the turbulent time she has been having, which included her partner being refused entry to a scan and the possibility that he may not be able to join her for the birth of their daughter. 

She said: ‘The past 7 days have been a rollercoaster of emotions starting with a hospital scan last Wednesday, where we were told Boj could come the day before, but when we arrived he wasn’t allowed in due to Covid restrictions. 

‘I then spoke to a consultant via video link on Monday who informed me there is a possibility that Boj won’t be allowed to attend the birth in February. This was followed by the lockdown announcement from Boris.’

Revealing she has come into contact with someone who has tested positive and has been forced to isolate at home, Kate added: 

‘Now today, we’ve both been pinged by our NHS test and trace apps saying we’ve come into contact with somebody who’s tested positive for the virus and we both have to self-isolate. 

‘It’s one of those weeks where everything seems to be happening at once I guess and I really am trying to stay positive but it’s difficult.⁣ 

‘If you’ve had to go through any pregnancy scans or part of your labour without a loved one by your side, my heart goes out to you.

‘For the women who’ve had to give birth without their birth partner due to this awful virus, I know that having a beautiful little human in your arms at the end of it made it all worth while but it doesn’t take away the fact that you had to go through such an experience without that one person there you wanted. 

‘This week I’ve heard of an abdominal birth AND a home-birth being cancelled and I can’t imagine how those mums-to-be are feeling right now but if you’re in the same boat I’m sending you all the love and strength. To be told you can’t give birth the way you want to must be heartbreaking. ⁣ ⁣ 

‘I’m hopeful the law won’t change if cases/deaths increase over the next five weeks and we’ll be allowed to welcome our daughter into the world, together. Also fingers crossed, we don’t develop symptoms between now and then. 

Finishing the post on a positive note, she concluded: ‘Sending so much love and thanks for your messages and support over the past few days, I’ve been overwhelmed by your kindness and apologies if I don’t reply to everyone it’s just impossible. Xx⁣ #33weekspregnant #lockdown2021.’   

Earlier this week Kate shared her worries that Martin may not be able to attend the birth of their child due to rising Covid-19 cases.

Kate tearfully admitted in a video shared to her Instagram stories that she is ‘terrified’ at the thought of having to ‘go it alone’.

She explained that she was warned by her obstetrician that ‘there is a chance’ her partner might not be able to go to hospital with her amid the coronavirus crisis.

A teary-eyed Kate told her followers: ‘I’ve been crying, that’s why I look like death. 

‘So I’ve just got off the phone with my obstetrician, we were talking about the birth and my abdominal birth has been booked in, six weeks from today I’m going to have it.

‘But because of Covid cases on the rise there’s a chance that Boj might not be able to come to hospital with me and I might have to go it alone.’

She went on to explain that she has a ‘huge fear of childbirth’ and said she is ‘upset’ at the thought of welcoming her baby ‘without the person I love holding my hand’.

She continued: ‘So first of all, my heart goes out to any woman who’s had to give birth without their partner there.

‘As someone who has a huge fear of childbirth, the idea of giving birth to my baby alone without the person I love there holding my hand is just terrifying. 

‘It’s just not for me, it’s not what I want. So of course I’m upset, but there’s nothing we can do.’

Kate scheduled an elective abdominal birth on the NHS due to her fear of spontaneous births.

The NHS website states that having a birth partner present is currently allowed as long as ‘they do not have symptoms of coronavirus’.

But it adds that there ‘may be limits’ on the amount of time the person is allowed to stay for after the birth.

The NHS website explains: ‘Having a birth partner is important for your safety and wellbeing during labour and birth.

‘You’ll be able to have a birth partner during labour and the birth if they do not have symptoms of coronavirus. But there may be limits on how long they can stay after the birth.

‘If your birth partner has symptoms, they may not be able to come with you. You might want to have a backup birth partner just in case.’ 

But during the first national lockdown, many women were forced to give birth alone as many partners were not allowed to attend the hospital. 

Kate’s latest revelation comes after the TV personality revealed that her fiancé wasn’t allowed to be at her 32-week ultrasound scan due to Covid safety restrictions.  

She explained: ‘I thought that the rules had changed and that partners could attend all scans, but because the Covid cases are so bad right now, partners can only attend 12 and 20-week scans, which is great for mums-to-be and parents-to-be…’ 

‘But yeh sad that he couldn’t see the little nuchky today, ’cause she was so cute, and she was measuring up very well…  

‘She’s just above average. She’s not a big baby. Her head is a normal size as well, which is brilliant.’ 

Her pregnancy updates come after she explained that she has been booked in for a planned C-section and will welcome her baby girl just after Valentine’s Day.

Counting down her little one’s arrival, the reality TV star wrote earlier this month: ‘9 weeks to go! 30 weeks pregnant today and knowing that little Nuchky’s arrival is at 39 weeks has made my day.’

The expectant mother shared how she was able to schedule an elective abdominal birth on the NHS due to her fear of spontaneous births.

She said: ‘I had a really positive video call with an NHS obstetrician about birth options and we discussed my fear of childbirth along with various facts and figures on both abdominal and spontaneous births.

‘Thankfully she was understanding and told me that with elective abdominal births on the NHS, they’ll book me in for my due date minus 7 days which is February 15th, the day after Valentines Day.

‘Knowing that I can have my baby the way I want to is really going to make this final trimester more enjoyable.’

Kate confirmed her pregnancy in September, two years after announcing her engagement to Martin.
