Bieber called Mendes ‘another Canadian treasure,’ during a listening party for his 2020 album Changes back in January, with fans practically demanding a collaboration.

The singers who take their music very seriously also showed a glimpse into their playful side in a recent Twitter exchange.

Posting on Tuesday, the Senorita singer took a playful jab at Justin as he posted a photo of him next to Jacob Tremblay – who stars in Bieber’s Lonely video – as he wrote, ‘You don’t remember us taking this pic together?’

Justin retorted by posting a clip of himself in a radio interview where he was asked, ‘Do you look at a kid like Shawn Mendes, and think man ‘I wish I was going through what he’s going through, with what I know now,’ to which a bewildered Bieber responds ‘Who’s Shawn Mendes?’

The duo share more than their Canadian nationality, as Mendes was famously linked to Hailey Baldwin before she and Justin rekindled their romance.

Hailey and Mendes appeared together at the Met Gala in May 2018, before she and Justin got hot and heavy a month later, with him popping the question in July.

With any bad blood or jealousy seeming to have dissipated since that time, the pair have both respectively moved on as Mendes has been dating Camila Cabello since summer of 2019.

Recently Mendes has been teasing his upcoming Netflix documentary titled In Wonder, which will give fans a behind the scenes look at his stardom and relationships during a world tour.

The film will be released on Netflix on November 23rd, a week ahead of his Wonder album drop on December 4th.
