Johnny Depp’s Hollywood Hills home ‘broken into while actor was away with burglary suspect arrested’

Johnny Depp’s Hollywood Hills home was broken into and a burglary suspect later arrested over the weekend, according to a new report.

TMZ claims a woman who was possibly homeless, broke into the Oscar-nominated actor’s mansion over the weekend, with the home’s security system activated and police alerted.

The woman is said to have been spooked by the alarm system and fled the property before police arrived. It is unclear if anything was taken from the 57-year-old actor’s home.

However, she was reportedly later found nearby with police connecting her to another recent burglary – and she was allegedly arrested on suspicion of burglary.

It is understood that Depp was not home at the time of the alleged break-in.

Depp purchased the 1920s-era eight-bedroom castle-like home in West Hollywood on a four-acre eucalyptus grove back in 1995.

Mailonline has contacted representatives for Johnny Depp and the Los Angeles Police Department for comment.

The police incident comes amid a turbulent time for the actor, after the High Court backed ex-wife Amber Heard’s claims that Depp battered her during their marriage.

In November, Judge Justice Nicol ruled that The Sun’s report alleging Depp, 57, had been violent towards her were ‘substantially true’, and that the Pirates of the Caribbean star had put her in fear for her life as he binged on drink and drugs.

Depp has appealed the High Court’s verdict and is also suing Heard in the US over a separate Washington Post article written two years ago, meaning the actress is unable to speak freely about her legal battle with Depp.

Speaking to Sky News about her new role in a series based on a Stephen King novel, Heard said it had made her to ask questions about being faced with ‘unbelievable circumstances and incredible adversity, and everything being on the line.’

Heard’s new show, The Stand, sees her playing Nadine Cross, one of the survivors of a flu outbreak that kills 99% of the population, prompting a ‘power struggle of good and evil.’

In the latest legal hearing in Virginia between Heard and Depp this week, Fairfax County Judge Bruce D. White blocked Depp’s attempt to have Heard’s case against him thrown out of court amid a new law.

Heard was allowed to move forward in her $100 million counterclaims case against the actor after his attorney Adam Waldman last year dubbed her allegations of domestic violence ‘fake’ and a ‘sexual violence hoax,’ according to legal docs published on The Hollywood Reporter.

The Kentucky-born actor had tried to use a new anti-SLAPP (strategic lawsuits against public participation) law passed in the state last year to have Heard’s suit tossed.

Depp fell short in his claims of anti-SLAPP immunity, the judge said, noting the lack of public concern and that the Edward Scissorhands actor ‘may have made these statements with actual or constructive knowledge or with reckless disregard for whether they are false.’

The judge added that Depp’s comments and Waldman’s ‘hoax’ remark ‘imply that Ms. Heard lied and perjured herself when she appeared before a court in 2016 to obtain a temporary restraining order against Mr. Depp’ and ‘imply that she has lied about being a victim of domestic violence.

‘In light of the #MeToo Movement and today’s social climate, falsely claiming abuse would surely ‘injure [Heard’s] reputation in the common estimation of mankind,’ the judge wrote in his ruling. ‘Therefore, this Court finds that the statements contain the requisite “sting” for an actionable defamation claim.’

The judge concluded that Waldman’s remarks do not fall under protected opinion, as ‘whether Mr. Depp abused Ms. Heard is a fact that is capable of being proven true or false.’

In November, Depp was cut from Fantastic Beasts 3 by Warner Bros., as he played Gellert Grindelwald in the J.K. Rowling series.

Depp’s case is slated to head to trial May 3, while Heard’s suit is expected to go before the court later on in the year.
