Johnny Depp sends out a New Year’s wish of hope to all as 2020 comes to a close
Johnny Depp is bringing a rather tumultuous year that was 2020 to a close with a message of hope for his fans.
The 57-year-old actor took to Instagram on Thursday, sharing a photo of the preface of the 1939 novel The Time of Your Life by William Saroyan.
He also added his own message to his 9.1 million followers, asking them to find happiness in these troubling times.

‘A New Year’s wish to all,’ Depp began, just days after sending out another holiday message with a photo from his documentary Crock of Gold.
‘Though the world is in mourning for better days, I hope all of you are able to find a moment tonight to smile and more importantly, to laugh and make others laugh, as much as possible,’ he added.
‘I know this may be difficult in the midst of these trying times, but I wish nothing but happiness and health to all,’ Depp continued

‘May you be surrounded in perfection. With all my love and respect, JD,’ the Pirates of the Caribbean star concluded.
On the day after Christmas, Depp also sent out another hopeful message, which read, ‘This year has been so hard for so many. Here’s to a better time ahead.’

Depp has been embroiled in controversy for the better part of 2020, largely due to his libel case against British tabloid The Sun, for calling him a ‘wife beater’ during his tumultuous marriage with Amber Heard.
The High Court of Justice in the U.K. ruled in early November that, ‘the great majority of alleged assaults of Ms Heard by Mr Depp [12 out 14] have been proved to the civil standard

As a result of Depp losing the libel case, just days later the actor announced he was leaving the role of Gellert Grindelwald in Warner Bros.’ Fantastic Beasts 3.
‘I’d like to thank everybody who has gifted me with their support and loyalty,’ he said. ‘I have been humbled and moved by your many messages of love and concern, particularly over the last few days.’
It was also revealed that the actor will still receive his full $10 million salary for Fantastic Beasts 3, even though he was only on set for one day.
