J.J. Abrams’ company Bad Robot Productions creates a 20-page Guide to Dismantling White Supremacy at Work

J.J. Abrams is committing to fostering an anti-racism environment at his Bad Robot Productions company, and beyond.

The production company released a 20-page guide on their Twitter and Instagram, titled Guide to Dismantling White Supremacy at Work.

The company stated they were, ‘committed to dismantling white supremacy at work & at large’ with their guide.

‘We are following leading academics, activists & artists and have compiled an evolving set of resources that we are sharing with friends and colleagues. Onward!’ the company said in their tweet.

The front page of the guide began, ‘At Bad Robot, we are committed as storytellers and executives to dismantling white supremacy at work and at large.’

They added that this was an ‘ever-evolving and far-from complete guide,’ but they wanted to help others, ‘strive to do the delicate, raw, humbling, and enraging work of anti-racism.’

They added that they have provided sources to all the information they have gathered, and ‘thank the activists and scholars who have endeavored to consolidate this information.’

The guide is split up into a number of different sections, starting with how much time you may have at the moment.

For those who only have 5-10 minutes, there are several videos, including RaceForward’s What Is Systemic Racism? along with several articles including The Case for Reparations by Ta-Neshi Coates and a list of artists, activists and organizations to follow on social media.

There are also several podcasts as well, and for those with more than an hour to spare, there are several longform articles and a list of films and TV shows including Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing, John Singleton’s Boyz n the Hood and Ava DuVernay’s The 13th and When They See Us.

There are also suggestions for parents who want to foster an anti-racist environment, including a video with a list of books that support conversations on race and racism.
