‘I need you to know I hear you and I stand with you’: Instagram star Tammy Hembrow takes strong stance on Black Lives Matter and encourages fans to donate to the cause

Tammy Hembrow has taken a strong stance on the Black Lives Matter movement the wake of nationwide riots in the United States, following the death of George Floyd.

The influencer, who has over 11 million Instagram followers, told her fans on Monday that she could no longer stay silent on the issue. 

The 26-year-old wrote a length caption created in the Notes app, calling for donations to a number of causes, including Black Lives Matter related fundraisers and the George Floyd Memorial Fund.

Tammy wrote: ‘I’ve been thinking about this a lot and have been unsure how to approach it or what I would say exactly.

‘Although I have been posting a little on my stories, as well as having much needed conversations and signing petitions/donating. I recognise it’s not enough. 

‘I know that I am privileged because of the colour of my skin and will never truly understand the injustices that have been going on since forever and that are still happening to this day.

‘I have many friends that are POC as well as family members and I am doing them a disservice by staying quiet on my platform with everything that is going on.’
