The couple are incredibly deserving of the house. Simon works all hours to support the family, while Petra is dedicated to working for the charity she set up, after suffering her own tragic loss.

Petra said: ‘We are a bit like passing ships sometimes, we both work so hard. But for me, I could work an 85 hour week, barely see my husband, and I would still feel it was worth it to do my job, to see the difference it makes to the children.’

‘At the end of the day, it’s my little girl’s legacy, and getting recognised for the work we do has been amazing. Since we were on Saturday Night Takeaway, we’ve had thousands more views to our website and social media: as as small charity, it’s often hard to be recognised, so this is amazing.’

Meanwhile, Ant and Dec were left horrified during Petra and Simon’s appearance on the show after the audience laughed as they detailed their family trafedy.

The presenters, both 44, revealed they were gifting the family the house but unfortunately the studio audience laughed at an incredibly awkward moment, after being distracted by the screen behind them.

Ant said: ‘Tragically three years ago they lost their daughter Darcey-Lee when she was just nine and a half weeks old.’
