I’m A Celebrity’s Myles Stephenson reveals he was ‘chased out of towns because of racism’

‘I wake up most days and cry because it hurts’: Myles Stephenson reveals he has been ‘chased out of towns and nearly run over in racist attacks’

Myles Stephenson ‘wakes up most days and cries’ because of the racist experiences he has encountered on a ‘daily basis’.

The I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star, 28, told how he has been ‘chased out of towns because of racism by grown men’ and even ‘nearly run over multiple times’.

Speaking in an interview with this week’s OK! Magazine, the Rak-Su singer said: ‘I’ve grown up with racism, being mixed race. I’ve woken up most days and cried to myself because it hurts.

‘I still experience racism on a daily basis. I’ve been chased out of towns because of racism when I was younger by grown men and nearly run over multiple times. Ashley (Fongho) from Rak-Su was also there and we had to run five miles back to his house.

‘Be it just a comment on Instagram or getting it physically, it hurts just as much. There’s a lot that still needs to be done.’

Myles and his bandmates have made a song about the recent issues surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement sparked by the killing of George Floyd – a black man who died while a white cop knelt on his neck for over eight minutes.

In the candid interview, Myles also discussed his snowboarding accident which saw hospitalised and seriously injured in February.

Myles revealed that while he still has blood on his lungs he’s been able to start going through rehabilitation and personal training.

Even though it’s been hard and the singer can’t even run a kilometre anymore, he says he hasn’t been put off by the ‘freak accident’.

He crashed while snowboarding and ended up in intensive care with a ruptured spleen and cracked ribs.

The I’m A Celebrity star continued on his reality TV stint by appearing on Celebrity MasterChef this year – something he had always wanted to do.

He said that he found it nerve wracking cooking for judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace but they told the contestants, ‘Don’t cook for us, cook for you’.

Although he said he didn’t use any of his cooking skills that he showed off while on I’m A Celebrity, he says he would love to have his own cooking show one day.

Myles is planning on doing Breakfast At Garraway’s with Kate Garraway when the pair are able to meet up once her husband, Derek Draper, recovers from coronavirus and gets out of hospital.

He added that he is praying for Derek’s recovery and wishes the best for Kate and her children.
