She was given a six-month suspended jail sentence in 2017 for bribing a government official to unlawfully obtain a driver’s licence.

And now, almost four years on, Paulini Curuenavuli has described her decision to break the law as ‘the dumbest thing thing in my life’.

The former Australian Idol star, 38, told Woman’s Day: ‘When I look back I just can’t believe how naive and stupid I was… not a day goes by where I don’t shake my head and think, “What were you thinking, girl?” I’m so sorry.’

The I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here star went on to say she could have handled the situation differently. 

‘I wanted to handle the situation very differently to the way it was,’ she said.

‘My management at the time wanted me to say and do nothing, and I did as I was told, which I now regret.’

Paulini claimed she had wanted to own up publicly and admit she’d been ‘foolish’, but instead she remained quiet.

She will address her run-in with the law on Monday night’s episode of I’m a Celebrity.

‘I bribed a government official,’ she said in the teaser, leaving her co-stars shocked.

Paulini was charged with bribing a public official to unlawfully obtain a driver’s licence.

She pleaded guilty and was given a six-month suspended sentence in 2017.

The singer has since parted ways with her management company of 15 years for ‘creative’ reasons and has engaged the services of booking agency Q Star Productions.
