I’m a Celebrity: Host Julia Morris takes a swipe at dumped Pete Evans

I’m a Celebrity host Julia Morris takes an on-air swipe at disgraced chef Pete Evans… after he was DUMPED from the line-up at the eleventh hour following his neo-Nazi meme scandal

Pete Evans was pulled from the line-up of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! at the eleventh hour in November, after he posted a neo-Nazi meme on Facebook.

And on Tuesday’s episode, host Julia Morris, 47, took a swipe at the disgraced MKR star as his last-minute replacement, Colin Fassnidge, prepares to join the show.

After watching a cryptic trailer for the Irish chef’s arrival, Julia began guessing who could be joining the camp in a discussion with her co-host Dr Chris Brown.

She couldn’t resist! I’m a Celebrity host Julia Morris (right, with Dr Chris Brown) took a swipe at disgraced chef Pete Evans on Tuesday’s episode

After asking if it was ‘Bono from U2’ or ‘Qantas CEO Alan Joyce’, she quipped: ‘Oh, you know who it is? It’s celebrity chef Pete Evans putting on an Irish accent!’

As her colleagues laughed, she said: ‘Who wants some veggies? Top of the morning!’

Julia had previously denied Pete, 47, was ever heading into the jungle.

‘But I don’t think it’s really his thing, is it?’ she told Mamamia. ‘As if that guy, who goes on about not relying on the mainstream media, would go into the jungle.

‘That seems like an incredibly odd choice, don’t you think?

Replacement: In November, Channel 10 was left in an awkward position because trailers had already promoted the appearance of a 'celebrity chef' on I'm a Celebrity. Producers then called up Colin (pictured) and asked him to replace his old My Kitchen Rules co-star

‘Let’s put it this way… he wasn’t missed. If he was going in, he wasn’t missed.’

However, Pete recently confirmed he was supposed to be on the show, during an interview with YouTube life coach Mark Waite.

‘I was meant to be doing something for three weeks which was going to take me away from being with my wife,’ he said.

While Pete didn’t reveal details of the three-week commitment, he was clearly referring to the filming schedule for I’m a Celebrity, which took place over three weeks in November.

‘And as soon as this [the neo-Nazi meme scandal] happened, I called [my wife Nicola] and said, “Hey, listen. That’s not happening.” And she goes, “Do you want to go to yoga?” And I said, “Yeah, that sounds like a great thing,”‘ he recalled.

Pete has faced significant backlash since sharing the neo-Nazi meme on Facebook in November last year.

The post was a cartoon of a caterpillar wearing a MAGA cap and a butterfly with the neo-Nazi Black Sun emblem on its wing – with the suggestion being that neo-Nazism is the natural evolution for Donald Trump supporters.

The Black Sun symbol became infamous after it was introduced by top-ranking Nazi Heinrich Himmler during World War II. The symbol has since been adopted by numerous neo-Nazi groups, and by Christchurch mosque shooter Brenton Tarrant.

Following the post, he was dropped by 15 sponsors and companies in just two days.
