I covered my mother’s home in Christmas wrapping paper while she was on holiday – it took 5 days and cost £220 but it was worth it

A practical joker spent five days covering his family’s home in more than 100 rolls of wrapping paper.

Maks Majewski, who is originally from Lebork, Poland, but now lives in Kingston upon Thames, London, forked out £220 on 114 rolls of Christmas paper to prank his family.

The 20-year-old posted a video on social media documenting his lengthy practical joke, which shows him wrapping red and silver paper over the kitchen units and each section of the hob separately.

He then stretches the rolls across the walls and floors, making the living and dining area look like a giant Christmas present.

Maks’s attention to detail even extended to wrapping bananas in the fruit bowl, each kitchen knife and every slat on the dining room chairs.

His mother Anna can be seen covering her mouth in shock as she walks into the house after several days away, but she and Maks’s sisters, Julia, 16, and Suzie, 10, then appear impressed by his festive handywork.

Maks said he spent five days working for around 18 hours per day so the home would be ready for his family to return home from visiting his grandparents.

The content creator said he was determined to pull off a detailed prank, despite being worried his mother would shout at him.

He said it took so long that he’s not had time to wrap any of his family’s presents yet and will need to go out and buy more paper.

The videos have been viewed more than three million times with users impressed by his wrapping skills and shocked by his commitment to the audacious prank.

Anna said she was shocked to see her son’s crazy project and hopes she has enough time to get the house in order again before Christmas.

Maks said: ‘I was scared my mum was going to shout at me. Who wouldn’t be?

‘My mum just started speaking Polish when she saw it and she just said wow. She could tell the effort that went into it.

‘They thought it was going to be a silly prank but then they saw all the details and they actually complimented it and said it might be one of the best things they’d ever seen.

‘It actually looked amazing. People are saying I should have started a tour and charged an entrance fee to view it.

‘When I started it I thought it was going to take a day or two but then you realise how much work it is.

‘When you look back on it, it was 100 per cent worth it.

‘I don’t believe in giving up but the back pain began hitting during the second day and that was tough.

‘I wanted to do a huge-scale prank that people would love and I’ve seen people do this in the past but I wanted to go into more detail.

‘The chair was the most difficult because they took an hour and a half each, so six hours altogether, and I wrapped all the cutlery but it wasn’t included in the video.

‘I haven’t even wrapped a single one of my presents yet so that’s on the to do list.

‘I might have to go and buy some Christmas paper because the levels are running low. I might need some more.

‘It wasn’t really practical but we’ve left some on the walls to give the festive vibe.’

Maks was wrapping the home between Friday December 8 and Wednesday, December 13th, when his family returned home.

He says he tried to buy the paper from supermarkets but there wasn’t enough of the same design so he ordered £2 rolls online instead.

He says the paper’s red colouring turned his family’s socks the same colour the more they walked on the covered floorboards.

The content creator, who doesn’t live in the house, had expected his mum to be annoyed but she says she was more shocked.

Anna said: ‘I didn’t know what to think. I was surprised and couldn’t believe it.

‘We know that he is a bit crazy sometimes so we expect things to happen.

‘Now we have to prepare everything for Christmas and I hope we have enough time.’

Maks says Anna told him to clear the paper after three days so the house is almost back to normal ahead of the busy festive period.
