I Can See Your Voice: Katharine McPhee performs as Musical Superstar during season one finale on Fox

Katharine McPhee helped contestant Delray Smith win $100,000 on Wednesday’s season one finale of I Can See Your Voice on Fox.

The 36-year-old singer served on an advisory panel that guided Delray toward finding the bad singers onstage and eliminating them.

With every terrible vocalist he got rid of, Delray earned $10,000 and he did it three times.

At the end, there was just one woman left, who had been nicknamed ‘Customer Service Agent.’

Delray had to ask himself: Was the person onstage in front of him a bad singer or a good one?

He ultimately decided that she was good, and Katharine walked onstage to sing with her as the show’s Musical Superstar.

She belted out the first few verses of KT Tunstall’s Black Horse And The Cherry Tree, as everyone held their breath.

When the Customer Service Agent started singing, Delray fell to his knees: She was good.

It turned out her name was Tiffany Jackson, and she had opened up for Method Man and Redman in 2013 and 2017.

She took part in the show to honor her father, who dreamt of singing on TV before he passed away, a screen credit read.

With his victory, Delray won $100,000, and the show’s celebrity advisory panel danced in their seats.

‘I’m about to throw up,’ Delray said.

Earlier he had been introduced to six different characters: The Flight Attendant, La Voz, the Dance Director, Cowboy, Customer Service Agent and Air Force Vet.

Several of the six singers were really bad, and each one Delray identified earned him $10,000.

The last singer left would do a duet with the show’s guest performer Katharine and if that person was a good singer, Delray would win $100,000.

In the first round, Delray watched the Flight Attendant, La Voz and Dance Director lip sync to Demi Lovato’s Confident.

He tried to figure out which one of them was really singing to their own voice, and realized it wasn’t the Flight Attendant, aka future pilot JC Zepeda.

JC confirmed it with his bad cover of the Backstreet Boys’ Backstreet’s Back, which scored Delray $10,000.

For the second round, Delray had to guess whether Cowboy, the Customer Service Agent, or Air Force Vet were lip-syncing to Bill Withers’ Lean on Me.

Once again, he accurately guessed that Air Force Vet Kil Theodrick had the bad voice, earning another $10,000 as the man trashed Jason Derulo’s Want to Want Me.

Round three allowed Delray to get clues about a specific singer by watching their cell phone videos, and he opted to learn more about the Dance Director.

The woman said that she had taken dance and vocal lessons as a child, and by age 22 was a dancer for the Seattle Seahawks, which she ‘proved’ by showing off her old uniform.

Against the advice of the celebrity panel, Delray insisted that the Dance Director had a bad voice, and she proved it when she sang Donna Summer’s Hot Stuff.

Lana Wohl said she did dance, but never took singing lessons and Delray got another $10,000.

The fourth round gave Delray the chance to listen to a recording of a singer’s vocals, which was altered so he couldn’t really hear how they sounded.

He wanted to listen to the Customer Service Agent sing, saying ‘she took me to church’ with her performances in the first few rounds.

After listening to her screech her way through Rick James’ Superfreak, he sensed she was bad.

‘She changes keys, which means she can’t sing in tune,’ Katharine pointed out.

‘She was in the pocket rhythmically,’ Adrienne Houghton, 37, protested.

Delray went with his gut and decided that Cowboy was less likely to be a good singer.

But when the Cowboy, aka Travis Yee, crooned Josh Turner’s Your Man, Delray was crushed, because he was a good singer, with over 23 million views of his videos online.

For the final round, Delray was given 30 seconds to interrogate a singer, and picked La Voz.

He asked her who her idol was (the late Mexican singer Selena Quintanilla), why she’d become a singer (her mom made her) and what her pre-show ritual was (a steamy bath).

‘Those are good answers,’ Katharine conceded.

Delray ignored her and picked La Voz as the bad singer, but the woman turned out to be good, singing Ricky Martin’s Livin’ La Vida Loca flawlessly in Spanish as she played piano onstage.

Her name was Agina Alvarez, and she was a piano teacher who had toured with Ricky for a few months in Mexico.

Delray lost $10,000 but had a chance to make it up by deciding whether the last singer, the Customer Service Agent, was bad or good.

He picked ‘good’ and was lucky enough to be right once again, winning $100,000.
