A new role: Home and Away star Luke Jacobz is homeschooling his four nieces and nephews while in isolation

He’s a returning Home and Away star and TV host, but now Luke Jacobz has a whole new role.

The 39-year-old actor revealed that while his family were deemed ‘essential’ and were continuing to work, he was at home looking after their children.

Speaking to The Morning Show on Friday, Luke explained how he had exchanged living his luxurious life in Bondi to cooking, cleaning and homeschooling.

‘There are seven of us in the house at the moment. The two parents both work, so I’ve got the kids to do homeschooling, cooking and cleaning,’ Luke said.

He added: ‘We’ve got a couple of dogs out in the back as well, so I’m doing all the walking and trying to keep everybody stimulated while we’re in this home lockdown.’

Getting ‘creative’ while in isolation together, Luke has been inventing new games, including mixing ‘fitness in with bingo’.

‘There’s lots of family time together, and sometimes lots of family time apart. So sometimes two of the kids go outside and then we swap them over, and sometimes just the parents go outside,’ the TV star explained.

‘Uncle Luke’ was given a thumbs up all around when the children were asked how he had been doing so far.

Before COVID-19 halting filming, Luke was set to return as Angelo Rosetta to Summer Bay this year after almost a decade.

He told Sydney Confidential in February that Channel Seven producers contacted him in January asking him to reprise his role.

‘[Channel Seven executives] called me in and said ‘How do you feel about Angelo coming back to the bay?” said the actor.

‘I said “very good” – and almost straight away it was “Okay, let’s get a haircut, a wardrobe fitting and look at some scripts”,’ he enthused.

While it’s not know how long he will star on the show this time round, Luke was thrilled Angelo would stick around the Bay for ‘a good few months.’

As of Saturday morning, there are 5,350 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Australia, including 28 deaths.
