Hollyoaks’ Malique Thompson-Dwyer travels 300 miles from Cornwall to Manchester during lockdown but insists the trip was for ‘work’

Malique Thompson-Dwyer revealed he drove 302 miles from Cornwall to Manchester on Tuesday amid the UK’s third national lockdown.

The former Hollyoaks star, 22, shared a snap of himself posing in front of Polean Farm Cottages in Cornwall along with the caption: ‘Can’t stop won’t stop’.

The actor’s girlfriend Christelle also shared the same snap to her Stories and wrote: ‘Nice long drive home,’ and tagged their location as Exeter, Devon.

Polean Farm’s website says they are currently closed but notes: ‘We are able to accommodate people from Tier 3 areas who are key workers or who need somewhere to live as a main residence or while moving homes, so please get in touch if this is the case.’

Britain’s third national lockdown means people must stay at home except for necessary journeys like getting food or going to work while overnight stays are also not allowed except for a ‘reasonable excuse’ like work.

If found breaking the law, people can be fined a Fixed Penalty Notice of £200 which can be doubled for any further rule breaks up to £6,400.

MailOnline has contacted a representative for Malique Thompson-Dwyer for comment.

A representative for the actor told The Sun that he travelled ‘for work’.

It comes after the actor faced backlash for attending an illegal rave in Daisy Nook Park, Failsworth in June.

The soap star had filmed himself at the Quarantine Rave which was attended by 2000 people and saw a 20-year-old man die of a suspected drug overdose.

He then posted a now-deleted video from his bedroom in which he said: ‘Yo, I’ve just come on here to give a quick message.

‘First of all, I apologise to anyone I may have offended, but let me just get one thing straight.

‘I’ve got family members that have actually passed away from this coronavirus. So yo, I am in this as well. So don’t go on at me like I am not in this as well.

‘But it’s funny how everyone is never saying anyone positive about me. It’s always bad boy Malique this…

‘They never want to say anything positive and it’s funny because at least I am not out there p***ing on war memorials. Racist c**ts.’

The day before, Malique had shared clips on his Stories as he walked through the forest at the rave.

He could be heard saying: ‘There’s a rave going on innit, can you hear the music?’

Malique is best known for playing Prince McQueen in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks Hollyoaks from 2016 to 2019.

A spokesperson for the actor declined to comment further to MailOnline.

Mass gatherings remain a breach of the coronavirus lockdown restrictions introduced by the Government in March to stop the spread of Covid-19.

It is claimed thousands of people attended the event, while up to 50 emergency service vehicles are said to have arrived as part of the police effort to break it up.

One witness said it looked like ‘a nightclub at kicking out time’.
