Harry Redknapp jokes son Jamie couldn’t be affected by the ‘Strictly Curse’

‘At least you won’t be getting divorced if you go on there!’ Harry Redknapp jokes son Jamie couldn’t be affected by the ‘Strictly Curse’

Harry Redknapp has joked son Jamie should go on Strictly Come Dancing because he can’t be affected by the ‘curse’.

The I’m A Celebrity winner, 73, poked fun at Jamie’s split from his ex-wife Louise after her appearance on the BBC dancing show in 2016.

Speaking on Redknapp’s Home Fixture, Harry joked: ‘One thing’s for sure Jamie, you won’t be getting divorced if you go on there.’

Jamie, 46, laughed and responded: ‘Keep it light, Dad.’

The pair were chatting from their separate homes for the Sky One show, which airs on Fridays at 10pm.

Earlier, Harry discussed how he nearly ended up on the famous Strictly ballroom.

He explained: ‘I said, I’m not a very good dancer and so they sent a girl down to dance with me.

‘They said they’d booked a room at the golf club to go and do some dancing so I said, “Where are we going”, and they said, “We’re going to Meyrick Park”.

‘I said I can’t go and dance there, my mates are all playing golf there today, how can I turn up dancing with a 21-year-old girl!’

The football manager said he was ready to go on the show and was practising at home until he was given a better offer.

He said: ‘What happened was I’m A Celebrity came and offered me twice as much money so I went there instead!’

And the decision turned out to be a wise one as Harry went on to be crowned King of the Jungle.

Earlier this week, Jamie admitted co-parenting his sons Charley, 15, and Beau, 11, with his ex-wife Louise has ‘worked really well’.

Speaking about adjusting to life and custody sharing amid the COVID-19 lockdown, the football ace seemed satisfied with their arrangement yet confessed he himself is struggling with homeschooling.

He told The Mirror: ‘I’m sharing the kids with Louise, which has worked out really well. Homeschooling has not been easy though, and my respect level for teachers has gone through the roof.’

Redknapp’s Home Fixture airs on Fridays at 10pm on Sky One and NOW TV.
