Laugh your way through self-isolation! Hannah Gadsby announces the release of her second Netflix comedy special Douglas

Hannah Gadsby became a global sensation after the release of her 2018 Netflix comedy special Nanette.

Now the Australian comedian, 42, is back with her new stand-up show Douglas, which will be released on Netflix on May 26.

She made the announcement on Monday via Instagram, telling fans in a short clip: ‘It’s gonna be good. Unless you don’t like it… then it’s still gonna be good. And you’ll be wrong.’

In the caption, Hannah jokingly reminded fans: ‘Be sure to mark it in your socially-distant calendars… then wash your hands.’

The show, which is named after one of Hannah’s beloved dogs, was filmed in Los Angeles back in February.

According to the Netflix synopsis of the show, Hannah took Douglas ‘for a walk across the planet, finishing up in Los Angeles, and recording her second stand-up special’.

Hannah said she had no idea Nanette would be so successful.

‘I didn’t expect to get fame out of ‘Nanette-flix’, as I like to call it. But here it is, my life has changed quite a lot!’ she said.

‘You don’t write a show like that thinking, ‘Oh, this is going to be popular’. Like, I did not read the room.’
