Hamilton actor Javier Munoz reminds fans that there are two members from the original cast missing

The filmed stage production of the Broadway sensation Hamilton debuted on the Disney Plus streaming service over the weekend, boasting the ‘original’ cast including creator/star Lin-Manuel Miranda.

However, another original cast member, Javier Munoz, an alternate for Miranda’s title character, revealed on Twitter that two members of the original cast are missing.

This production was filmed in June 2016, using parts of three separate performances, though this was after Betsy Struxness and Emmy Raver Lampman left the show.

‘A gentle reminder that Hamilton on Disney+ is not the original cast,’ began Munoz, who is not seen in the Hamilton film as well.

‘It is the original production. Both Betsy Struxness and Emmy Raver Lampman are absent as they’d already left the show,’ he added.

‘These are 2 brilliant artists who poured their hearts into creating their tracks,’ Munoz concluded, with a heart emoji.

Struxness was an understudy for the role of Angelica Schuyler, played by Renee Elise Goldberry, but she left the production in March 2016, three months before the production was filmed for the movie in June 2016.

Lampman was part of the original ensemble, but she left the production to star in the Spongebob Squarepants musical in Chicago.

After serving as the alternate as Alexander Hamilton, Munoz would take over the role once Lin-Manuel Miranda left the production in 2016.

He played Hamilton from July 2016 to January 2018, and he also played Usnavi de la Vega in Miranda’s first musical, In the Heights.

Lampman also returned to Hamilton to play Angelica Schuyler in the first U.S. tour in 2017. 

Munoz also played John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the Vassar workshop version of the play in 2014, before it debuted off Broadway in 2015 and on Broadway later that year. 

Hamilton earned a record-breaking 16 Tony Award nominations in 2016, winning 11 awards including Best Musical.

It also earned the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, with global box office receipts coming in over $1 billion, according to a Forbes report. 

Disney was originally supposed to release the Hamilton film in theaters next October, but after movie theaters and staged productions were shut down due to COVID-19, the studio released it on Disney Plus over the 4th of July holiday weekend.
