Halle Berry disses Sarah Palin after being called out for being distant relative of former conservative politician: ‘She ain’t invited to the cookout’

It’s safe to say Halle Berry won’t be partaking in a family reunion with former Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin anytime soon.

The Oscar-winning actress took to Twitter and offered a harsh respond to a tweet on the Daily Blast Live that linked the two together as ‘distant relatives’.

Berry first addressed the issue back in 2012, when she learned about a careful review of her ancestry that confirmed the connection.

The revival of the family connection resurfaced on Thursday, March 5, with a post on the syndicated TV show’s Twitter page.

‘This pair shares roots that may seem like they’re from different trees,’ it began along with pictures of the two side-by-side.

‘but @halleberry and former VP candidate @SarahPalinUSA are distant relatives — though the actual connection is unclear. #Related Celebs’

Berry, 53, replied on her Twitter account by clapping back at the former Republican Governor of Alaska.

‘She may be on the tree but she ‘AINT invited to the cookout,’ she wrote along with a face with tears of laughter emoji.

Turns out ‘invited to the Cookout’ is an expression used to describe the African American community.

The phrase is often used to describe an outsider who has shown themselves to be an ally of or friend to African Americans, according to the Know Your Meme website.

However, it also has been used to exclude members that have expressed opinions that are antithetical to the interests of the community.

The pair couldn’t be farther apart when it comes to their political beliefs. Berry took part in a cell-phone bank campaign in 2008 for then presidential candidate Barack Obama, who was Palin’s political rival as the VP nominee under John McCain.

It’s still unclear exactly how the two are connected on the family tree.
