Gogglebox’s Yvie Jones claims she was fat shamed by a doctor after she visited him to check a lump on her neck and he referred her to a dietitian

Gogglebox’s Yvie Jones has claimed she was fat shamed by a doctor after she visited him about a lump on her neck.

The 48-year-old reposted a video to Instagram of a woman who claimed doctors had dismissed her health issues because of her weight and shared her own experience of being referred to a dietitian after complaining about a lump in her neck.

‘I too have been weight shamed by my doctors for years,’ she wrote.

‘In Sydney I went in to see the doctor about a lump on my neck. Without hesitation he asked me if I could come back and see a dietitian, without telling me what was wrong with my neck.’

Yvie added: ‘I wanted to know what was wrong with my neck. F**k you. F**k doctors. And you wonder why people would rather die than be spoken so poorly to.’

The Gogglebox star also claimed fat shaming discourages people from visiting doctors.

‘This sh*t happens daily to people all over the world. Do you know how many people (myself included) stop going to doctors because they never focus on what we’re there for?’

Yvie’s post comes after she spoke about her mystery health battle and urged women to pay attention to their bodies.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia last year, she revealed her iron levels recently got to dangerously low levels, leaving her in need of an urgent iron transfusion.

The 48-year-old former Gogglebox star urged other women to pay attention to their bodies after feeling exhausted for six months.

‘I’m in my late 40s, and last year I started perimenopause… I was so fatigued. Not like normal tired, like low energy, I was fatigued,’ she explained.

‘I couldn’t understand why. I was cancelling jobs and missing out on birthday parties, really important things, and I was like, this is really weird.

‘It was a girlfriend that finally said, “Have you thought maybe you’re really low in iron?” I was like, “I don’t know.”

‘I was trying everything, the caffeine and all that kind of thing, and nothing worked. I finally went and spoke to my GP, and my iron was so low, just from the change of hormones and everything. But I was like, “Oh my God!” I had no idea.’

After discovering her iron levels were sitting at nine, Yvie was given an emergency iron transfusion, and now takes a daily tablet.
