Garth Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood to perform the legendary Grand Ole Opry Saturday night broadcast: ‘Double date with the Queen and me’

Garth Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood will take the stage for the legendary Grand Ole Opry concert in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday, May 2, but the historic venue will be empty due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The weekly show, which began way back in 1925, will be broadcast live on a number of radio and streaming platforms and keep the Opry’s streak of 4,922 consecutive Saturday night performances.

The country music stars took to social media to make the announcement, which both used the opportunity to gush over one another.
‘Date night @opry Saturday! I’m in,’ Yearwood, 55, tweeted in reference to her husband and fans.
Brooks, 58, reciprocated by giving his wife some of his own royal treatment.
‘Double date with the Queen and me on Saturday night??!! love g,’ the Country Music Hall Of Fame inductee shared on Twitter.

‘So me and Miss Yearwood — we’re going to be doing the Opry, Brooks said during his Inside Studio G series on Facebook Live.
‘I’m going to do some of the greatest country music on the planet for me… and it could be all of her stuff too,’ he joked.
‘This is going to be a fun Saturday night right here.’
The performance will air live at 8 p.m. ET on Circle All Access as well on as on radio stations, the couple’s Facebook pages and SiriusXM satellite radio.

This will be the eighth Saturday without an audience at the historic venue, with the exception of a very small production team that will be on hand to put on the broadcast and livestream.
Fans re being urged to donate to the Opry’s #UNBROKEN charitable campaign, which raises money for the MusicCares COVID-19 Relief Fund that benefits artists and musicians who are struggling in the wake of the pandemic.
