Former Bardot singer Tiffani Wood reveals she’s estranged from Sophie Monk

Twenty years after the release of their debut single, Poison, three out of Bardot’s five band members reunited to mark the girl group’s anniversary on Thursday. 

But during an appearance on Channel Seven’s The Morning Show, Sophie Monk was noticeably absent from the line-up, despite being one of the band’s original members.

When asked about her whereabouts, fellow member Tiffani Wood revealed she hadn’t spoken to the 40-year-old Love Island host since the band’s split in 2002, hinting that Sophie had cut her former bandmates off.

‘I haven’t spoken to her in 18 years. As far as I know, the answer [to reuniting] is no. I don’t know why. I think she is doing bigger and better things, maybe. I’m probably the wrong person to ask,’ the 42-year-old former singer confessed.

Tiffani was more blunt about the rift in the band on Instagram recently, responding to a fan who asked why Sophie wasn’t partaking in the group’s reunion.

She said that Sophie had shown ‘a lack of gratitude for honouring her roots’ and ‘if it weren’t for Bardot she may not be in the public eye doing what she likes now’.

Fellow band member Katie Underwood also revealed she hadn’t heard from Sophie in a long time, and while she tried reaching out to her on social media, she never got a response.

‘I left the group early, so it was just the four girls and the next thing I knew, [Sophie] moved to LA. It is just one of those things,’ the 44-year-old explained on The Morning Show. 

‘She was away for 10 years. Then, I don’t know. Life moves on. I tried to reach out to her via social media but… it’s hard when you have 500,000 followers. She probably didn’t get my message.’  

Also absent from the reunion was Sally Polihronas, while Belinda Chapple dialled in from her home in Singapore. 

The women revealed they have a better relationship with Sally, 43, and said while she was initially onboard with the reunion, she later decided not to participate.

‘Sally is one of my good friends. She just didn’t want to join in… she just didn’t have the vibe. She celebrated in her own way,’ said Tiffani.

In an interview with News.com.au on Tuesday, Belinda, 45, said they ‘got really close’ to reuniting for their anniversary, but received a hard no from Sophie’s management.

‘We got really close to doing something as the four of us – we’d had a no from Sophie’s management – but Sally’s not interested anymore. She’s busy with family, with her two little ones,’ she explained.
