Darryl ‘The Big Marn’ Brohman is known for his NRL career in the 1970s and 80s.

But during the Sunday Footy Show, the 63-year-old commentator revealed he was once caught up in a bank heist while working as a teller.

Host Erin Molan brought up the topic, saying that a man armed with a gun stormed into a bank while Darryl and six female tellers were behind the counters.

‘Is it true that you ran and locked yourself in the safe and left all the women out there to fight the robber?’ Erin asked.

‘Well, not really. I did go to the safe and hide. I don’t know why I did because you think that would be the place they would go!’ Darryl replied, throwing Erin and the other hosts into fits of laughter.

‘I’m not proud of it Erin. You know what it’s like. It’s like being on television, it’s every man for himself!’

Erin chuckled: ‘I don’t know what that’s like!’

‘Of course you don’t!’ Darryl cheekily replied.
