Ferne McCann EXCLUSIVE: Star talks battling the ‘terrible twos’ with daughter Sunday

Ferne McCann has revealed her daughter Sunday has hit the ‘terrible twos,’ as she spoke about life as single mum in an exclusive interview with MailOnline.

The First Time Mum star, 29, admitted that she’s taken to calling the tot ‘Miss Sunday’ due to her recent tantrums, but added that her hilarious outbursts are the things that she loves about her the most.

During the chat Ferne – who has partnered with Always Discreet to encourage women to do their pelvic floor exercises – also said that even after years as a single mum she’s still a ‘true romantic’ when it comes to finding love.

Speaking about her daughter, Ferne said: ‘She’s a proper little madam we call her Miss Sunday, which I love.

‘You know the things I find, she’s hit terrible twos and the things that I’m like – aaah I wish she wouldn’t have so many tantrums – are the things that I love about her the most.

‘She’s very independent, she knows what she wants, she’s just such a lovely happy little girl.’

Ferne added that even as a single mum she’s grateful to have a large support network to help with her daughter, and even after several years raising Sunday alone she still feels like she’s ‘winging it.’

‘I think for me, my only experience as a mother is a single parent, so I don’t know any different, but as a parent whether you’re a single mother or a mum of three, whatever parent you are, every stage has a new challenge,’ she said.

‘So just dealing with the terrible twos and just winging it, and I think that’s what my show and on my Instagram share what we’re going through.’

On the topic of love, Ferne was tight-lipped about whether there is a new man in her life, but did add: ‘I’m very happy at the moment, I’m a true romantic, I love love and I think everyone deserves to fall in love and be in love.’

Ferne has joined forces with Always Discreet for a campaign which encourages women to exercise their pelvic floors, after battling with incontinence following the birth of her daughter.

The star explained that she knew something was wrong when her bladder left her unable to exercise, and she has since been diagnosed with a prolapsed bladder.

Ferne explained: ‘I think for me with my experience after having Sunday, there’s other women that actually experience bladder leaks that might not have necessarily had children.

‘In my case, I’ve had a baby and everyone tells you about when your milk comes in and sleepless nights and stretch marks when your bump gets bigger all of those things we know about, but no one ever spoke about anything internally, after you actually give birth.

‘So I didn’t know I felt like something was wrong with me, this was something I associated with the elderly I thought I was at the point of no return and I found it so embarrassing.’

Admitting the incontinence did have an effect her confidence, Ferne added: ‘Just to reiterate the power of doing your pelvic floors this is what we want to encourage women to go their pelvic floors as part of their daily routines.

‘I know for myself I take my eye makeup off, I’ve got that all on lockdown, my mum instilled that into me, how important it was to take off your makeup, and that’s what we need to be doing with our pelvic floors.’

Ferne then advised her fans to always speak out if they were going through the same thing, insisting they shouldn’t suffer in silence.

She added: ‘My biggest advice would be to not feel ashamed or embarrassed because this is something that is really common, it’s not normal, it happens to best of us.

‘My biggest thing would be prevention, make it part of your daily routine, exercise your pelvic floors, women’s health is something we need to talk about, there needs to be more of a spotlight. If I can use my platform to do that then I’m all for it.’

Ferne McCann has partnered with Always Discreet to encourage women of all ages to do their pelvic floor exercises as part of their daily routine to put the squeeze on bladder leaks.
