However, contestant Marnie – who is vying for the affection of farmer Nick – has admitted that she was originally supposed to be a bride on the hit show, Married At First Sight.

Speaking to Woman’s Day, the 48-year-old explained: ‘I thought I was confirmed for he show and I was preparing to get married.’

Second time lucky? Farmer Wants A Wife contestant Marnie, 48, has admitted that she was originally supposed to be a bride on the hit show, Married At First Sight.

Marnie revealed she was left disappointed after eventually ‘getting an email saying that she didn’t make it through to the next stage’ on MAFS.

While she will now be having a second crack at reality television thanks to Farmer Wants A Wife, Marnie has admitted that a former MAFS groom, Steve Burley, sent her a direct message on Instagram.

However, Marnie noted: ‘He’s not my type, there’s nothing going on.’

Meanwhile, the new dating series will reportedly be embroiled in a ‘runaway farmer’ scandal after one bachelor disappears.

In a separate report from Woman’s Day, farmer Jack Beaton went missing after filming of the show was temporarily put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The sheep farmer, 27, was originally unveiled as one of the six eligible bachelors on the hunt to find love in November last year but has since been pulled by production.

A Seven spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday: ‘It’s common practice for production to have back-up cast members for many reasons.’

‘Farmer Wants A Wife has had back-up farmers since the first season. If farmer Jack’s situation remains the same, then he will most definitely be considered when casting future seasons.’

Farmer Wants A Wife first aired in 2007, and was originally on Channel Nine.

It ran for eight seasons before it was cancelled, before being renewed in 2016 only to be axed again due to disappointing ratings.

Interestingly, Australia’s version of the show has resulted in nine marriages and also 19 babies.
