EXCLUSIVE: The Chasers pull epic diva stunt as they REFUSE to go camping leading to seething Mark Labbett making expletive-laden call to his agent in Road Trip spin-off

While they may be quiz whizzes but the stars of The Chase have made their feelings very clear about the prospect of camping.

On the latest episode of The Chasers’ Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles, which airs on ITV on Thursday, Mark Labbett, Anne Hergerty and Shaun Wallace are taken to a ‘glamping’ site yet pull a huge diva stunt.

Leading the way was The Beast, 55, who point blank refused to enter and opted to call his agent, who instructed him to swear on-screen so producers could not air the footage, while the Dark Destroyer defiantly demanded they turn the car around.

The three part series sees the trio of Chasers pit their wits against extraordinary competition as they try to answer: ‘Are we really as smart as we think we are?’

To find the answers, Anne, Mark and Shaun travel the globe to take on child geniuses, great apes, and the latest AI and robot technology.

In Thursday’s episode two, the trio take on kids in a host of games before then being taken to a camping site for an al fresco evening.

Shaun said: ‘There’s no way I’m sleeping in a field, absolutely no chance. I’m a hotel geezer, fluffy pillows, running water, none of this glamping or clamping of whatever the trendy term they use for it is, I don’t do it’.

As they pulled up to a camping and caravan club, Mark said: ‘I’m calling my agent. Hi David, they are trying to spring camping on us in a farm. We don’t want to do this’.

David then said: ‘Just make sure you use plenty of swear words so they can’t use the footage’, leading to Mark’s rant and demand to be ‘returned to civilisation’.

The group then began chanting: ‘We shall, we shall not be moved’.

The episode comes after the RSPCA hit out at the ITV show for a segment involving the group swimming with dolphins at the Dolphin Research Centre in Florida.

The charity slammed the show – which is a spin-off from mainstay quiz The Chase – telling The Mirror: ‘We were disappointed to see animals being used in this way on The Chasers Road Trip.’

The RSPCA have hit out at ITV show The Chasers Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles for a segment involving swimming with dolphins

‘Swimming with dolphins may seem appealing to holidaymakers but we know that in reality they often have restricted space and can find swimming with people all day very stressful,’ the RSPCA spokesperson said.

‘Keeping dolphins and whales captive deprives them of some of the most basic freedoms and causes them unacceptable levels of stress and suffering. Captivity cannot provide for their needs and they can live shortened lives.’

This was backed up by further disapproval from Humane Society International/UK and The Ethical Bucket List.
