‘The basis of the show is trying to find out urban legends and mythical stories that people never worked out are true or not,’ he said.

Rumours the the Melbourne-based best friends had snagged a new sports-related deal with Foxtel began spreading last month.

TV Blackbox claimed they were set to join a new sports commentary production called Footy Yarns.

The stars filmed an emotional goodbye to Gogglebox last year, as they marked an end to their five years on the show.

In a written statement at the time, Symon said: ‘After five years we wanted to thank everyone that watched the show, helped make the show and was on the show.

‘We were asked to be on Gogglebox five years ago, sitting at a pub. We thought we might get free beers out of it, on that front we’ve well and truly filled out boots.’

‘We’re pumped for the future and if you’ve got a job I know a couple of guys.’
