Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira beams with joy as she poses by the surf

She’s learned to embrace her curves after overcoming insecurities about her body.  

And plus size model Barbie Ferreira was the picture of confidence and style as she took part in a beach photo shoot in Malibu on Tuesday.

The star, 23, who appears in the hit HBO series Euphoria, beamed with joy as she took the surf by storm in two chic dresses.

Barbie looked fabulous in a light blue and brown patterned dress that cinched into her waist and showed off a bit of leg.

The actress was a vision of glam with her brunette tresses styled into loose waves with a side part, and a pair of gold hoop earrings dangling upon her lobes.

In her second outfit, Barbie worked a blue-green halter dress with dangling earrings adding a touch of glitter.

Though she was spotted barefoot, she did appear to be bravely modeling in the sand wearing a pair of lime green heels.

Striking an array of poses ranging from glamour to happiness, Barbie nailed the shoot.

HBO fans best recognize Barbie as Kat Hernandez in the hit high school drama series, Euphoria, which also stars Zendaya.

In addition to roles in Divorce and the upcoming film Unpregnant, Barbie is also a successful plus-size model who has appeared on the covers of Paper Magazine and Elle Mexico.

As confident as Barbie appears on the exterior, it wasn’t always that way for the star.

In 2017, Barbie confessed she had suffered insecurities about her body while appearing on StyleLikeU’s ‘What’s Underneath Series’. 

While Barbie may embrace her body type now, getting there was not easy. ‘I hated myself more than anything else in the world at one point,’ she confessed.

Even now, one thing that Barbie struggles with in particular is her stretch marks – particularly because of the way the skin imperfections are handled in the fashion industry.

‘I was shooting something and this lady was very concerned about my hip. She was like “Oh did you scratch yourself?” she recalls of an experience with a stylist. ‘I was like those are just my stretch marks. I know she didn’t mean anything by it, but [fashion industry] people don’t always work with curve models.’

She also recalled being at photo shoots where people would make passive-aggressive comments about the catering, as though she would be interested in eating the food because of her size.

‘But it’s the same quinoa bulls*** every time,’ she laments.

‘Or,’ she continues, ‘they’ll but a chocolate cake and like, pressure me into eating the cake.’

Barbie has a more positive attitude about her body now.   

‘I owe everything to the fact that I look like this,’ she says. ‘I didn’t think I was allowed to be happy in my body [but now] I’ve learned a lot from my body.’
