Emmerdale’s Lisa Riley reveals she had 1.5 STONE of excess skin removed following her incredible 12 stone weight loss

She shed 12 stone after putting herself on a strict diet and gruelling exercise regime for 18 months back in 2012 after meeting fiancé Al.

Now Lisa Riley has got candid about her weight loss and revealed she had 1.5 stone of excess skin removed in order to feel good about her body. 

The Emmerdale star, 43, said she now looks at old photos of herself and asks ‘who’s that girl’ as she no longer recognises her old self.

When speaking with The Mirror, the actress, who plays Mandy Dingle on the soap, shared: ‘I started thinking about my own health.

‘People forget how gigantic I was. With the skin removal I lost twelve stone, one pound.

‘The surgeon chopped off one stone, four pounds. Since then my weight has more or less stayed the same.’

The star is currently self-isolating alongside at home due to the soap’s filming being postponed amid the COVID-19 lockdown.    

In 2017 she filmed a documentary detailing her weight loss titled Lisa’s Baggy Body Club.    

Speaking in the film, she shared: ‘I feel like a balloon that’s had all its helium taken out.’

‘Everything’s closer. Just been able to go to the toilet, to wipe my ****y. Well my ***y is here now.

‘I had to really reach round all the fat and reach down under, but it’s there.’ 

Making the decision to go for surgery, she started a community for people going through the same thing.

This led her to the brave decision to document the battle on her  ITV documentary. 

Hoping to highlight the problems faced by many, the actress underwent a tummy tuck, surgery to remove the loose skin for her thighs, a boob lift and the removal of her ‘bingo wings’.

Despite the tummy tuck leaving her with vertical and ­horizontal scars, Lisa admitted it was worth it to get rid of the saggy skin.
