Sunrise newsreader Natalie Barr is covering the presidential election in the U.S.

And on Wednesday, the 52-year-old journalist snapped back at an Instagram follower who criticised her for travelling to the States amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The troll left an ignorant comment about Natalie ‘not protecting herself’ after she shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the White House in Washington, D.C.

Natalie was sitting on a stool in the corner of the White House press room, while surrounded by equipment.

She had a microphone in hand as she recorded a voice-over for a story. The photo was taken by Sunrise cameraman Beau Molloy.

Natalie joked in her caption: ‘The glamour.’

A follower wrote in the comments section: ‘By going to America to cover the election you are not protecting yourself [from] Covid.’

Natalie swiftly responded: ‘Yes I am, actually. Everywhere we go we wear masks as it’s compulsory here.’

Hitting back: Natalie responded to the troll, 'Yes I am [protecting myself], actually. Everywhere we go we wear masks as it's compulsory here. We wipe down everything with alcohol wipes. We use hand sanitiser and wash our hand constantly'

Meanwhile, Sunrise’s usual white and orange font was changed to blue and white.

Sam Armytage’s fill-in anchor, Monique Wright, wore a white dress for the occasion – and spoke in front of a backdrop graphic of the White House.
