Ed Westwick shows off his muscular physique in a shirtless selfie… as he admits it’s unlikely he’ll return for the Gossip Girl reboot

He found fame as playboy Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl.

And Ed Westwick showed he knows how to get the ladies attention in real life as well as he stripped off for a sizzling shirtless selfie.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the 32-year-old actor put his muscular physique on display in the brooding snap.

All about the Bass: Ed Westwick showed he knows how to get the ladies attention in real life as well as he stripped off for a sizzling shirtless selfie

Ed, who was clad in a pair of pink and navy striped shorts, glistened with sweat as he stared down the camera lens.

He posed in an impressive oak panelled walk-in wardrobe that Chuck Bass would’ve been proud of.

Ed captioned the image: ‘Me in my funky shorts, who got their workout in today?!’

The sexy selfie comes shortly after Ed ruled himself out of returning for the Gossip Girl reboot that is in the works.

Last year, fans of the series were delighted when it was revealed a spin-off series for the hit show, set eight years after the series finale, had been commissioned for upcoming streaming service called HBO Max.

Yet in an interview with Hollywood News earlier this month, Ed claimed it is unlikely any of the show’s original stars will be featured.

Asked if he would like to make an appearance, Ed mused: ‘Absolutely I would, but I don’t know that they want us!

I don’t know anything about this reboot except from what you guys have read… I’m not sure how our characters would fit in.

‘I’m so lucky to have known those people, to have played that role and to have been in New York City and doing that. Are you kidding me, I’d go back in a heartbeat, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.’

Variety reports that WarnerMedia has made a straight-to-series order of 10 one-hour episodes for the new series,  will focus on a new group of New York City private school teens, and will explore how much social media and the city has evolved since the original program’s conclusion.

Gossip Girl aired on The CW from 2007 until 2012, and followed a group of elite Upper East Side Manhattan teens who were watched and taunted by a blogger known as Gossip Girl.

The hit show lasted six seasons, and launched the career of Blake Lively, who played popular socialite Serena van der Woodsen.

Other stars who were made famous by the series include Leighton Meester [Blair Waldorf], Penn Badgley [Dan Humphries], Chace Crawford [Nate Archibald] and Taylor Momsen [Jenny Humphries].

The original Gossip Girl series was based on the YA novels written by Cecily von Ziegesar.
