Dorinda Medley reveals how she dealt with loss of her husband in Celebrity Call Center clip

Dorinda Medley is using her past hardships to help a perfect stranger deal with a unique problem in an exclusive clip for the E! show Celebrity Call Center.

The 55-year-old Real Housewives of New York star is featured in a sneak peek from Monday night’s episode giving advice to a woman who is trying figure out a way stop her mom from taking their taxidermied dog everywhere.

Celebrity Call Center is a new unscripted series that sees everyday folks pose questions to a group of famous people who dole out helpful advice. 

Hannah from San Luis Obispo, California called the show asking for advice on the topic of loss, something that Dorinda knows a lot about having lost her first husband Richard.

‘I’m calling because my dad passed away a few years ago,’ Hannah began explaining on the phone. ‘We had a dog who was a miniature poodle named Riley and my parents were both really obsessed with the dog.’

Hannah went on to say that, unfortunately, their family dog had also died recently and her mom had the poodle stuffed by a taxidermist.

‘She’s been taking the dog with her everywhere,’ the girl told Dorinda. She added that her mom carts the stuffed pooch to places like the grocery store and pharmacy.

She asked the Bravo star for her advice on how to talk to her mom about not taking the dog around anymore ‘without breaking her heart.’

Dorinda listened intently to the call seated in a room in her Berkshires home while wearing a headset with an attached microphone.

The RHONY star was very understanding in her candid response and said that she could relate in many ways to the situation.

‘Well unfortunately, I have a lot of experience with this because everyone knows my husband passed away eight years ago and people deal with grief so differently,’ the star said. 

Adding: ‘It is a process that is just so isolating. I would believe that [the dog] is part of her healing process.’

Medley’s late husband Richard, a financial consultant, died in 2011 from liver failure at the age of 60.

The Real Housewife opened up to Hannah about how she dealt with her grief becoming a widow and a single mom.  

‘I personally developed sort of rituals and funny things after Richard died that maybe no one else understood but they made me feel good,’ she revealed. 

‘I think that’s the first step,’ Dorinda advised. ‘Find out if this is her way of coping through the loss of her husband.’

Dorinda is joined on her episode of Celebrity Call Center by Jodie Sweetin, Akbar Gbajabiamila and Mikey Day.  

Other stars like Nick Cannon, who also produces the series, Kelly Osbourne, Vivica A. Fox, Johnny Weir and Nene Leakes have been featured in earlier episodes.

The show is based on a British format and sees a collection of famous faces use their own real world experiences to give out advise and help on a variety of topics from callers around the country.

Celebrity Call Center premiered on July 13 and new episodes air Monday nights on E!.
