‘We will never condone the use of violence’: Domestic abuse centre condemns shock Emmerdale storyline which saw Charity slap son Noah

A domestic abuse centre has condemned a recent storyline in which Charity Dingle slapped her teenage son Noah across the face.

Thursday’s installment of ITV soap saw the mother and son have an almighty row as Charity scuppered Noah’s chances of getting into the army, with their showdown resulting in lashing out.

However, the National Centre of Domestic Violence has slammed the shock plot, stating that they ‘will never condone the use of violence or abuse’ in any form.

Sharon Bryan, the Head of Partnerships and Development at support organisation at NCDV, told The Sun: ‘We at NCDV will never condone the use of violence and abuse in any of its forms, whether it be between partners in intimate relationships, parent to child or child to parent.

‘All abuse is wrong and is essentially a misuse of power and control by one person over another. There is no justification’.

MailOnline have contacted Emmerdale representatives for comment.

The tense scenes saw Noah (Jack Downham) give his mum Charity (Emma Atkins) some harsh home truths, as he berated her ruining his plans and for being a bad mum.

Seething at her while Chas (Lucy Pargeter) watched on, he ranted: ‘You’ve spent my whole life ignoring me, fobbing me off on anyone like you do to Moses now.

‘You don’t care if we’re happy as long as we’re out of your way. You’re two faced and selfish.

‘Vanessa knew it, that’s why she left you. Because you’re a dirty cheat. I mean at least it got you away from Johnny. What a joke that was, you pretending to like a kid that’s not even yours?’
